Advantages: 8Mp is nearly as good as film, well not really, but the file sizes are getting huge.
Disadvantages: It not a Nikon, but they dont do one as good.
The Olympus has everything you want and a load of stuff you dont. A bit like my Nikon F601.
8Mp gives a realy good picture. Best of the 8Mp bunch.
However, digital even at 8Mp is not as good as film, but digital is the future, so I'm told.
But with raw files around 30Mb and JPG at 3.5Mb its going to have to do, as I dont want to work with bigger file sizes - ever!
The camera fires up very quickly, but takes pictures slowly, especially with both auto-focus system and anti-red-eye flash engaged.
Handling is fast and easy. The shutter button and other controls are much more comfortable than the Nikon, Fuji, Sony competition.
The menu takes a while to get used to, but then I still dont understand how to get to all of functions of my Nikon F601 after 12 years!
This is a respectable camera, that will give years of use and is unlikely to become obsolete. It will get cheaper though.
Summary: Comfortable to use, with good results.

- 09/07/05 Some useful basic points there. I considered this camera myself not long ago, but ended up with something else - for now. Have fun with it. |

- 08/07/05 Welcome to dooyoo. A good start for your first review. A tip here - go into more detail and you get much higher ratings, even possibly a crown. Now that's what everyone's aiming for. I need a better digital camera myself actually lol. :-) |
