Olympus Camedia C-990 ZoomFor situations where even more magnification is required, CAMEDIA C-990ZOOM provides an additional 1.6x, 2x or 2.5x digital tele, which can be employed in all quality modes. As it doesn't alter the lens' focal length, this feature is especially useful in situations where the photographer wishes to get closer to the subject without altering the motif's depth of field. Numerous other features ensure that the easy-to-use C-990ZOOM captures every image optimally. Measurements for the contrast detection focusing system and for light metering are made through-the-lens (TTL), giving uppermost accuracy. Spot metering is also available and an exposure compensation adjustment of up to ±2 EV in 1/2 EV steps lets shots be taken in more awkward lighting conditions. C-990ZOOM also allows successive shots to be recorded at a speedy 1.5 frames per second, making sure not a detail is missed. This model offers another dramatic means of capturing all the action through the inclusion of a practical movie recording function. This enables up to 60 seconds of moving picture footage to be recorded in QuickTime Motion JPEG format. If desired, these can then be viewed directly on television (PAL) thanks to the camera's TV interface. The superb combination of powerful features and exclusive design is bound to give CAMEDIA C-990ZOOM particularly broad appeal. Very compact and lightweight, this zoom model has the added benefit of accepting the highly energy efficient LB-01 (CR-V3) lithium battery packs. Newest Review: ... The Olympus Camedia c-990 Zoom digital camera is one of my most treasured possessions. I was tempted to buy it in January when disapointed with my Christmas pressies I decided to buy what I wanted for myself! I looked at lots of different makes and models but as my first digital had been a bog standard Olympus (free with the PC)I decided to stick with them. The C-990 looks pretty in its gold and black casing it is quite like a posh compact camera with glossy edges! It has lots of features including; 2.1 Mio Pixels Bright lens 3xzoom f2.8 - F4.4 2.5 Digital Tele mode Quick time Motion JPEG ISO settings 100/200/400 ...

As my old Olympus camera was just passing it's 15th birthday I thought I should invest in a new toy. I originally started with a budget of around £300, but was soon persuaded to up that a little as I wanted to print pictures onto A4 paper and was told that for best results I should go up to a 2 mega pixel camera. In this class was also a Jenoptic and a Fuji. The jenptic really didn't appeal as I haven't a clue who they are. Fuji I know make very good films, but I didn't know about their cameras. I had a demonstration of the Fuji and the Olympus. Of the two, the Fuji appeared to be a little fiddly with it's menus and did not seem to have as good a build quality, so ...
