Olympus Camedia C-2040 Zoom
by music-mark - written on 01/05/02 (Useful, 76 readings)
Rating:
I bought my 2040 secondhand which meant I missed out on the 'extras' in the box such as the cable for pressing the shutter button remotely and the relevant software but I still couldn't have made a better buy. It's basic features are a preview LCD screen, digital zoom x3 and three settings: automatic, shutter priority and aperture priority. If you're familiar with a professional SLR you'll appreciate the scope available within the aperture and shutter priority modes. You can drop the speed down to 1/2 which makes for reasonable light trails in night shots, use a full variety of F stops, go for a fast shutter or let the camera set the speed while you choose ...
Olympus Camedia C-2020 Zoom

Rating:
2.11 megapixel CCD imager to capture 1600 x 1200-pixel, 24-bit color images in JPEG or uncompressed TIF format. It has a fast, 3x optical zoom lens and is the first Olympus camera that records up to 60 seconds of video as QuickTime movies (15fps at 320 x 240 pixels or 60fps at 160 x 120 pixels). The new C-2020Z is housed in the same 50/50 silver aluminum and black plastic case as the C-2000 and incorporates many improvements and changes to the original design. They did away with the power button in the center of the mode dial that was located too close to (and frequently confused with) the shutter release button. There is now a combination power/mode dial that works ...

Rating:
One big weakness of this camera is battery longevity. It's a good thing to have at least 2 sets of batteries available, and a rapid charger. Today rechargeable AA's are not that expensive so that's no big problem though! Irritating things about this camera are the lens hatchet, which in my pocket easily opens up and let dust get into the lens which is not so good! Image quality is good, sharp and low noise in ISO100, in ISO200 and 400 noise is apparent. It's also worth to mention that ISO can be manually set between ISO200 or 400 but not ISO100. I think this is a shame for low-light situations. Buttons, there are too few of them! Too many options must be made on the ...
