Advantages: Size, Portable, Easy Button and Menu Layout

Disadvantages: Extra lenses expensive, not as many features as more established SLR makes

I bought my Olympus E410 at a time when the four third's process was under intense scrutiny. I have to confess, although the camera was recommended to me, I bought it mainly because of its low price. Despite this, it has never let me down.

The first thing I noticed was that it was light and portable which made changing the lenses very easy and straightforward. It also meant I could buy a fairly small bag to put it in. The automatic mode locked focus quickly and accurately although understandably had a problem with moving targets. The adjustments for the manual mode were quick and the no-fuss button layout pleased me when trying to get the camera out and on in a rush. I feel the size of the camera contributed to this.

Picture quality is very, very good and more than adequate when compared to the slightly more expensive Nikon and Canon makes.

The only downside I would say is that lenses using the four thirds system seem to be quite hard to come by and are fairly expensive. I would question the longevity of this system, however if you are looking for a fairly low priced entry level SLR then I don' think they come much better than this!

Summary: A great camera for a lower budget - I have never regretted it!
