I had this camera brought for me as a gift, from a very good friend and partner. I really love the feel of the is camera, the shape although is quiet square it feels very ergonomic in the hands. There are only a very few buttons on the camera which, in theory, makes the camera easy to use. However, this is not always the case, especially if your anything like me. Ok, I do not as a rule read any instruction manuals which come with electrical items, I want an item which are easily 'discoverable'. Once ' discovered' the camera is good and has loads of fantastic figures. Althought there was a very very rocky start, due to the lack of willingness to read, the camera is easy enough to use and takes very good photo's what more does one want from a camera? This camera has a lot of futures which helps toward the the quality of the pictures. for example, 5x wide optical zoom, duel image stabilisation. The camera takes pictures in 14 mega pixels which allows the pictures to be printed in poster size. The camera also has an intelligent auto mode (IAM) which, if your anything like me, it allow the pictures taken to be print worthy. This IAM, also recognises faces so ensuring all paces are in focus on each picture. Comes with USB lead for connection with PC. I am not a computer tech, yet found the storing of photos pon my PC from camera very easily.
This camera was one of my first digital cameras. Before I started to buy these types of cameras im sorry to say that I always had one use film cameras , which as you can imagine used to cost me a fortune in picture developing and the cameras itself. A digital is convenient and because I often took my camera away on holiday with me, I was either using it in clubs or when Im ogoing climbing, so I had to compromise size and weight for practicality. This meant I would have to get a compact and not an LSR. Shame as I know LSR`s take great pictures. I wanted something reliable and Olympus is one of thise brands that has been around for years, so I went for this camera. You can pick one of these up for around for anything from around £87 up to £100 depending on the shop where you get it from. Those are of course online obviously, if you go to a shop like Jessops then you`ll probably pay a bit more. I needed a compact and this camera is very thin and light at only 142grams. It feels very robust to hold, not cheap and plasticy. Like all Olympus cameras its also made with usability in mind, making it relatively easy to navigate through menus and use functions. I have the browny- goldy version as you see in the picture but you can also get the camera in diffferent colours such as pink, white and light blue. The package also comes with a manual, leads so you can plug the camera into a computer and download pics. You also get a CD to download the Olympus programme. Functions: The camera has a 14 megapixel camera, which allows for fantatsic definition. Pictures are clear and the colour definition is great. The 2.7inch screen allows you to see good detail and direct your shot accordingly. There is a 5 times optical zoom and this should be enough for most people to get great long shots. You can select MACRO shots if you like this feature. The zoom is extremely easy to use. The wide lens allows you to take great landscape shots too. You aso get the usual brightness and contrast variability function, and a shot mode, so ou can take action, night time, portrait and landscape, document shots etc. You can go all retro and take the shots in black and white- but to be honest as it is not an LSR camera those shots do not come out fantastically well. Photos are taken in the universal JPEG format and so can be transfered from device to device with ease. There is a photos and a review modes to take pictures and look at them as an album once ou have finished. You can delete and crop too, but it can be a bit too easy to delet a whole album, only two clicks away. If you selct the wrong option you could easily do it and I have found myself from just stopping myself from deleting 100`s of photos of my holiday. The camera has extra Macro and automatic face recognition, so you dont chop off any heads. You also get action shot capability, so if you take a shot with someone doing fast sports (I use it for snowboarding), then the shot does not come out blurry. The camera also holds different memory cards of various sizes (you get a 64 MB SDHC external drive memory card free) this allows you to take around 400 pictures or a short 10 minute movie. The camera comes with a hand strap and the battery is included as they always are. It is a lithium battery and are rechargable. There's a charger/adapter for the battery. Dimensions are 9.41cm (W) x 1.99cm (D) x 5.58cm (H) - Weight 124 grams If I had one criticism it is just that I cant seem to get rid of the first 'welcome' screen, where you have to input the date and time for the photos. Every time I put the camera on It keeps coming back up, even if I set it and save it, the next time I turn the camera on it comes up again....Ive given up now and lazily I skip over the screen to get to the modes section.
**introduction** In my days,i' ve try quite a few cameras,my brother also like to go trough a lot of cameras.in hopes of finding one that takes an extremely clear and sharp pictures for a affordable price.and that attracted me to olympus FE-5030. **what does it look like ** First of all Olympus FE~5030 design is sleek, stylish, and compact as it light-weight, around 124 grams and the size is small. Its fits my pocket size.without realize its weight and size, as it is less than 10cm in size. This camera is available in 4 colors,(flamingo pink, indium grey, aqua marine blue, and pure white),but I like the pure white,as it gives good feeling and elegant. For the screen, its having Impressive piece of LCD screen of 2.7'' through which you can see the photos you have taken and which also serves to frame the photos you are going to take. **features** Thanks to the face detection system that will make box around your face whenever the person in the screen pose and smile, thus taking the pictures more reliability and not having to delete because it will not go wrong. This olympus fe-5030 cameras menu is very simple, and it is designed for people who are no experience in the world of photography. All functions of the camera are almost automatic and very easy to use. The picture quality is awesome with 14 megapixel ccd sensor lens, and for nights it's having a Built-in flash which is more than worthy..the Optical zoom of the cameras up to 5x zoom which helps to look out on small details.and 4x digital zoom to.When you get home you can download photos to your lappy or computer easily because it takes photos in JPEG format and is connected to USB.This camera also has an integrated memory which is not bad at all, of 46 MB..In my opinion you can store the most interesting in internal memory and the other in the SDHC external memory.for Another point that I really like about this camera, is that it makes the pictures very fast and sharp to, despite having flash it makes it faster, you also have a system to avoid taking the red eye, which is a basic problem in some of the cameras that a red eye appears around the eye of the person in the picture. **durability&cost** The rechargeable battery for me is the best, and that it is an exceptional battery alone,on this camera, it spend a much longer, which is more than useful. It lets you make about 400 shots before needed for recharge again.and The price of this cameras is around £160 when i purchased it was several months ago,and i have spotted this same camera on amazone at around £100,that price really worth in respect for the Quality and ease of use.
I like having a digital camera as they do all the work for you when it comes to taking great pictures. I am no good at taking photo's with an ordinary camera as I usually get the subject out of focus, or chop heads off or get the lighting wrong, but with a digital camera all my photo's come out properly and this Olympus FE-5030 has to be the best camera I have owned so far. This will cost you anything from £100.99 up to £139.99 depending on where you buy it from you can get it from Comet and Jessops and also online at places like shopolympus.co.uk but when buying online you have to pay extra for the delivery costs. I was lucky enough to have this as a present for my birthday from my sister in January and I have used it a lot since then to take photo's of my new grandson and also some holiday snaps to go on my computer. The camera is very thin and light and feels good to hold, it's easy to use and you can choose from these diffferent colours, pink, brown, white and light blue. I have the blue one as it's my favourite colour. You get a good informative instruction booklet with the camera and it is a 14 megapixel camera so takes great pictures that are clear and a good colour tone to look at. You can see what your taking on a 2.7inch screen, which is ample enough for quick snaps. It has 5 times optical zoom but to be honest I never use this as I like to take a lot of landscape pictures when i go on holiday and then when I'm taking pictures of my family it's usually just them at random and not with the zoom but pressind the zoom does bring everything closer and it's not distorted at the very last zoom setting, even though I don't use it I can say it is good for anyone who might want this function. It has automatic face recognition which is great for the family photo's as you don't get the head chopped off in any of the pictures. You can record a short movie if you like but this is also something I haven't used a lot. I have used it for recording my grandson playing on his jungle playmat as he's started to move around more now he's four months old, but this feature is something I don't use a lot now. You get the camera in a good sturdy box, with a handstrap for easy carrying, it also has a battery included which is a lithium battery and rechargable. There's a charger/adapter that plugs in and it has a USB cable for when you want to load the photo's onto your computer and it has a disc to configure your camera to computer which has online instructions to follow. It has a brightness adjustment so you can have the flash on or off and there is also a feature which lets you take photo's in portraits, landscapes or night mode. You can resize the images if you like once the photo has been taken and you can alter them to black and white, sepia, trim them down and reduce the red eye on them. You can buy accessories for this camera at extra charge if you like but you don't really need them as it comes with all the things you need to point and shoot. It has a 46MB memory and it's dimensions are 9.41cm (W) x 1.99cm (D) x 5.58cm (H) - Weight 0.124kg I like this camera and would recommend it to you if your looking for a light weight thin camera that can be easily stored in your bag or pocket.
