Advantages: toughness, xd card adapter

Disadvantages: shot quality is average for the price

I bought this camera primarily because of its tough nature i.e. it is waterproof and shock proof. So far it has seemed very well built and easy to use with a clear simple menu system and dedicated buttons to switch on/off the flash etc. Although on auto the flash seems to nealry always be used.

My olympus came with a xd card adapter which was brilliant for me as it meant I could use my mobile phone's micro sd memory card staright in the camera. A 1gb card allows you to hold about 1250 photos at 3 megapixel which I think is enough for most holiday snaps!

At 8 megapixel and with it's limited lens zoom I would not say it is the greatest of cameras as there are better quality cameras available at this price but the fact that it is well built and offers decent performance was enough to sway me in favour of the olympus. The battery needs to be taken out to charge which is a bit of a chore although battery life seems ok.

Summary: tough but not cheap
