I bought this camera as I had started an online business selling products and needed to be able to take clear, professional-quality product photos. The Olympus MJU 800 did not disappoint! As an 8 mega pixel camera, the picture quality is excellent and the camera has a range of built-in pre-defined "scenes" for shooting under different conditions (examples include: landscape, portrait, night shot, sport, indoor etc.). The sport setting is particularly useful if, like me, you want to take photos of your children running and jumping in the garden! The sport setting allows you to produce clear, focused shots, even when your subject is moving. If you prefer to make manual adjustments, you can easily adjust exposure, ISO and similar settings, with an easy macro and super macro setting for close up shots, and a handy LCD screen for adjusting settings and viewing the pictures you've taken. But the pre-set shooting modes mentioned previously really do make it so easy to take excellent pictures without having to worry about adjusting exposure etc. I've used this camera for about 4 years now and I've never had any issues with it whatsoever - and I've never felt the need to look for a "better" camera!
The main thing that attracted me to this camera was the pixel count. Unfortunatly, a year or more on, I am still a little disappointed. I have taken many great photographs with it, however, I feel it has taken too much effort.
The shutter speed is disappointingly slow - too bad if you see something interesting flying past and want to photograph it - you'll be unable to! Non-flash nighttime shots are also poor, unless you set it to low quality or use a tripod. The amount of times I have been in a foreign city with lots of lights and been frustrated at being unable to take a decent picture!
I think there are better cameras out there for the price. 8+ pixel cameras are coming down now in price, so there is no real reason to get this one.
