I bought this camera more than a year ago and I got it at a phenomenal price so my thinking is coloured by this. The features of the SP-550 are pretty impressive anyway but as I grabbed it at price of a little over £100, I am particularly impressed with what it can do.
Lets get it straight from the outset I am no expert photographer but this camera has pushed me to go beyond the automatic settings and experiment what some of the more advanced capabilities and, Wahoo, what a result. Don' t get me wrong not all the results I have achieved have been great, at times I have asked too much with attempts a long range shots in poor light and a lot of subject movement. Not good but not the camera's fault, I have been on a steep learning curve.

To summarise I found the SP-550 a good camera when you want basic point and shoot use or you can use advanced features, many of them, to get great shots that would satisfy the keen photographer.

Summary: Suit the Amateur who wants to learn
