Panasonic one of the cheapest branded equipment sold out to the public. although their products are cheap they tend to last longer than products that are triple the price. But moving on to to the main topic, this Panasonic digital camera may have a simplistic look to it but this is due to the beneficial purposes it holds. For example; the product is waterproof and so pictures can be taken underwater additionally having 16 mega pixel camera enables high definition images to be taken in different environments. people generally believe pictures can only be taken on ground but if your one to enjoy swimming into the ocean whilst taking a few pics at the same time this is the camera for you. Secondly the camera is additionally shock, freeze and dust proof meaning the camera is under less threat of being damaged.
the price is set at a decent price it will possibly depreciate over time so if you do consider buying this please don't have the intention of selling and trying to make your money back because that's hardly ever the case.
This camera is a nice stylish pale blue colour that will suit any person down to the ground thats like the colour blue whether they are a guy or a girl. The buttons are large enough to be easily pressed by someone with large hands or even small hands. The camera itself is a nice size for anyones hands and is light enough that you can feel it in your hands and you know that it is a camera but not heavy enough to be frustrating to hold up while taking a video or a lot of photos.
The camera is waterproof for up 5 metres which is very good as it gives the possibility of taking it into water parks for photos or videos when you are on holiday or whatever. You could try to get underwater photographs which can tend to look very fancy with this camera and can be fun for young kids to play around with.
You can take HD videos with this camera which comes out exceptionally well and means that you can be proud of showing off the videos you have taken with your friends and family.
The zoom function works wonders with it being a x4 optical zoom and allows you to zoom in something quite far away like any other camera nowadays but the quality of the images that this camera takes remains crystal clear even at these ranges.
The battery life from this camera is very good and it is easy to insert and take out an SD card.
This camera is a bargain at around £100 and would be well worth around £150 in my opinion. I have had it for ages and have never had any faults with it.
This is the ideal little lightweight camera for anyone who loves the great outdoors... and taking photos of it!!
It is surprisingly robust and survived a lot of heavy bangs on a recent hiking trip... it is even child proof! I love the ease-of-use... even my 10 year old could use it, but that's not to say it doesn't have to top class features : the scene selections are particularly useful, although I find the flash too dazzling in indoor situations- focuses on the dust in the air between the lens and the object rather than the object itself! Otherwise, a great outdoorsy all-rounder. Buttons are a bit small at first but I even got used to to them with my clumsy fingers after not much time at all.
Had a Panasonic in the past and wasn't completely pleased but I seriously think Ill be hanging on to this one for a while... as soon as I get it back from my daughter!
I was so happy when I found that I could review this product and I am very excited to write this review.
I first purchased this camera in August 2012 just two days before I was going on holiday! I had been looking for a new camera as I had my old one for a while and it was on its way out, it was mine and my partners first 'proper' holiday abroad together and I am snap happy so I wanted the pictures to be really good.
I stumbled by chance upon this camera and hesitated slightly at the £199 price tag - how much? But I was intrigued as it was an underwater camera. We had purchased a snorkel set and I thought this would be a lovely addition to this underwater activity. After reading that this camera was waterproof, sand/dust proof, freeze proof and shock proof that it would be the perfect addition on my many travels.
I love travelling and ever traveller needs a good companion in a camera. This is mine, it is my left arm and I am in love with it, even after the honeymoon period! I know that if anything ever happens to this camera I will be replacing it with the same one.
When I first went snorkelling I attached the camera using the wrist strap as no matter how waterproof this is (up to 10 metres) if it goes to the bottom of the sea bed I am not getting it back! I was terrified at first about putting it into the water, I wasn't quite convinced that any camera could go into the sea and come out completely unharmed but it does.
The camera has a lock on the hatch for the battery and SD card compartment which reminds you to make sure it is closed properly and there is also an instruction when you switch on the camera to remember to lock the side. If you do this then the camera is 100% waterproof.
I didn't care about the price tag this was the best camera I had EVER bought, we snorkelled for hours and took photos of the hundreds of fish that were below sea level, it was amazing that I could capture the beauty underwater and above the water!
Yes, this camera once removed from the water is an unbelievable 16 megapixel camera with many different settings and flash. It has different settings such as auto-mode, portrait, landscape etc. The camera quality is brilliant and I have taken so many brilliant photos on this.
As I have written a travel blog photos are really important to me and this camera has not let me down yet. It is perfect all round, day time, night, underwater and for those who like to travel I would say this is the best camera on the market.
The camera has a re-chargeable battery which is brilliant as I charge the camera up every night I am away as I tend to get snap happy and take about 1000 photos a day and this is where the SD Card slot comes in very useful as I just buy a new SD Card whenever needed and I can easily upload them to my laptop.
This camera is available in Orange, Blue and Red - I have the blue one and I love its bright colours, different that most cameras that are out there. These can now be purchased for £149 and I would recommend this camera highly!
The travellers dream in my eyes!

Panasonic DMC-FT20EB-A Rugged Camera with LEICA Lens and HD Movie - Blue (16.1MP, 4x Optical Zoom)
This is not our first digital camera , in fact I think it is about our sixth or seventh but our smallest camera is starting to be a bit unreliable and that is the one we take to restaurants and round cities, places where we don't want to carry a bigger camera and so we had been thinking about buying a replacement for that one. I thought that if we were going to buy a new small camera then it would be handy to have a waterproof one as we were going to Iceland and were planning a visit to the Blue lagoon and we also have a Galapagos trip booked for later in the year.
So with that decision made I went hunting on Amazon to spend my latest Dooyoo and other survey vouchers. We wanted a camera that was small, waterproof and with a dent zoom and pixel count as well as not too expensive.
I found a few and studied the reviews thoroughly and finally chose this as it had all positive reviews and was £99 with free P&P. I thought this seemed pretty good value for the quality promised and not so expensive that if it all went horribly wrong we would be upset at wasting the money spent. I ahve also found that when I have bought products on Amazon there has never been a problem with returns if something has gone wrong so I felt pretty confident buying this.
After I placed the order the camera arrived a few days later in a small package with not a lot else apart from an instruction booklet and a strap. There was a small amount of internal memory but it takes cards like the Sandisk Ultra SDHC cards and we had a couple already to test it with. I then ordered one from Amazon once we had checked which card it did take for certain.
Onside the small box we got the battery Charger, a battery , AV Cable, USB Cable, AC Cable, Hand Strap and a CD-ROM to set it up on the computer and with instructions too.
Everything the reviewers and the product description said was spot on. The camera was ideal for me as I am not the most talented photographer and yet it still allows my husband enough extras for him to be challenged with. It is also really small and light so it can fit in a coat pocket with the case I bought or in a smaller pocket without the case.

It has a pretty good zoom lens (4x) and good, 16.1MP resolution. I always just play with a new camera but my husband took charge and would not let me do anything until he had read all the instructions.
The 4x optical zoom is very good and we have found that even when you bring it up on our large screen TV the quality of the photograph is pretty darned good.
The camera has a good quality Leica lens, and despite its small size it is packed with lots of surprising features. The display on the back is pretty big considering how small the actual camera is. It is bigger than the one on our SLR which is a considerable larger camera.
The camera is waterproof even in the sea to a depth of five metres which is quite deep enough for me. If you do take it in the sea they suggest that you wash it in fresh water and dry it carefully to prevent salt damage and corrosion so we will be doing that when taking it into the sea. It was taken into the Blue lagoon and we did wash it carefully afterwards and it has been fine since so it obviously does work so long as you ensure that it is closed properly. It does alert you once you switch it on, if the camera is not sufficiently closed so there should be no danger. Once closed it is not only water proof but also dust proof too so this means that taking it to the beach, into a desert and so on should be no problem either.
This is a tough little camera in other ways and it has rubber padding and reinforced glass and carbon resins inside the camera. The camera is not only water proof but also airtight. It is also able to cope with a drop of but not sure that I want to check that feature out with mine deliberately. The entire canmer and lens have been tested to cope with temperatures of as low as -10 degrees C so it was great in Iceland and if we ever get to the polar bears it will be good to cope with that too.
The fact that the lens has no cover can be an issue as there is no protection unless it is in a case. Because of this I would say is that if you do take this in water, especially salty water then check the lens is clean afterwards as spots show up on photos if not and that can spoil your next few photos until you realise.
It has an automatic mode for those who don't want to be fussed with changing the shooting mode. However it is so easy to change to scenes, faces, people and so many more that it would be silly not to use the cameras functions. There are many that I probably won't use but often my husband comes and sets it up for me once he has decided on the required setting! Apart from the Intelligent Auto mode there are other settings for specific times which saves you fiddling around too much . These include MEGA O.I.S., AF Tracking, Intelligent ISO Control, Face Recognition, Intelligent Scene Selector and Intelligent Exposure and all of these are accessed by activating the iA mode. This saves faffing about too much if like me you forget about settings sometimes!
We don't use a lot of video but do sometimes take some such as when if limed the leaping sifakas in Madagascar . This little camera can take "HD video in 1280 x 720p at a smooth 30p (NTSC) 25p (PAL) in MP4 format " That technical stuff was from the website as I don't really understand it but other might!. Both these formats work on PCs or smartphones for editing or sharing the videos. Apparently the recorded videos can be directly uploaded to YouTube but I am more likely to put mine on facebook and have done in the past. It is really easy to switch between photo mode and video with one simple video button quickly. The 4x optical zoom not only works with still photos but also with the video recording as well. There is also a handy' Active Mode ' which means that any hand shake or movement such as walking when filming is minimised.
There are also other options such as one mode where edge of shot is deliberately de-focused and then the saturation and contrast is enhanced so that the image looks like a model. You can record video in this mode and play it back in 10x fast-forwarding mode to create a kind of comic video.
The Panorama Shot mode means that you can shoot a horizontal or indeed a vertical panoramic image with consequent shots taken by overlaying the previous photo.
The battery lasted the entire time we were in Iceland and we had it with us in use for most of the three days so pretty good we thought. It was battery it came with and was a flat specifically designed for camera battery. The charger was included in the pack that came with the camera too. I have read on other reviews that the battery drains faster in colder conditions but we didn't have a problem. It might get more quickly drained when the battery is older but that is not such a big problem as you can always buy a spare battery and they only cost £5.95 from Amazon , it takes a ABC Products® Rechargeable Li-ion Battery for Panasonic camera DMC-FT20EB and many others and it has a 5* feedback so that is the one I will be buying I think
I know it is only cosmetic but I chose a lovely blue colour and there are other bright colours to choose from and I was quite excited at having a coloured camera. It certainly makes it easy to spot in my handbag or in a suitcase.
I am still learning with this camera but so far I am really pleased with what I can do with it. I really hope it works under water in the Galapagos as that would be perfect.
I have given this five stars as that is what it has been for us within its specs of course it is not a professional digital SLR but doesn't claim to be either.
