Advantages: compact, easy to use and very multi functional .

Disadvantages: Couldnt pick one out in three solid days of use but I will update if iI find any.

A couple of weeks ago I was introduced to this tiny digital camera, now there have been plenty tiny digital cameras in the past but none have been all that good. This one however has an unbelievable amount of features for such a small piece of equipment. The digital cameras that have in the past claimed to be tiny compact cameras packed full of features have almost always been a let down so I didn't expect too much from this one but boy was I surprised.

Many of you will know from reading my past reviews that cameras and photography are things I know a bit about. I have been into photography for a good few years now and have sampled many types of camera so I feel very able to tell you that if it's a small digital camera you are looking for then this is the one.

Packed full of many features that you will find in much bigger cameras that are on the market this 12.2 megapixel (yes I did say 12.2) camera produces truly outstanding photographs in either just its point and shoot modes or in the custom settings mode for the more adventurous people.

The main features of this camera are the already mentioned massive 12.2 megapixel, its 28mm wide-angle Leica DC lens which features a 3.6x optical zoom, a mega O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer), a system that helps eliminate blurring due to hand-shake, the Venus Engine III, Panasonic's advanced image processing LSI that helps render exquisite images with minimal noise and my favourite function, Superfast response time shooting. This enables you to take as many as 8 photos per second guaranteeing that you will catch the perfect image somewhere along the line, simply select this function point the camera at the subject you intend to photograph (stationery or moving) then press the shutter button and allow the camera to do the work.

Not only will the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX100 take 8 photos per second but it will also automatically adjust the lighting sensor as it does, making sure every photo taken will be as clear as is possible. The camera will also zoom in and out slightly as it takes these pictures without you even knowing, which gives you a wider range of choice in your final selection of photos.

As a serious photographer I use an SLR camera myself but these are very bulky and not always practical for everyday photography such as holiday snaps or family album shots therefore I always use a smaller digital camera too. I do not own one of these cameras yet but I assure you I will soon, the one I have been using belongs to a member of my family who is also a very keen photographer and like me cannot rate this little camera highly enough.

Now to the price, what would you expect to pay for this little wonder? Well it surprised me to find out that you can actually pick one of these up for a little over £220, not at all expensive when you take into consideration what can be paid for a fairly basic 6 megapixel digi cam these days. This camera is an item that you truly have to shop around for if you intend to buy one because although I have seen it advertised online at the afore mentioned price I have also noticed that curry`s are asking penny`s short of £300 for it so take care when purchasing.

I could go on and on about this camera but I feel the review would soon become boring to those who know little about cameras so I will wrap this review up by once again telling you that in my considerable experience with digital cameras I have never come across one as small that has so many functions and takes a truly terrific photo. I have snaps of my kids on the computer which I have taken with this camera and when zoomed or edited they maintain their pixilation free perfection as if they were taken professionally or with at the very least a mid range SLR.

On the subject of computers the software that comes with this camera is very, very easy to install and within minutes you can have your camera connected to your pc allowing you to upload your pics and perhaps do some editing if you are that way inclined. The instruction manual and the online assistance given with this camera are also very good and simple to understand so if you do run into any troubles do not fear help is at hand.
Thanks for reading!
