I wanted to get a new camera for when I had my baby and I must admit, the fact I could buy this is a range of colours did motivate me towards the purchase! I opted for a red one and bought it from amazon as it was a good price and I could get the item quickly.
It is a lovely looking camera and I am always complimented on the colour! The picture quality started out as acceptable and I was pleased but I have to say over the 3 years I have had it, I don't know whether this is possible, but it does seem to have declined. The pictures used to be clear and crisp, yet now they seem to blur easily, despite no change in settings. I always now leave the camera on the highest quality picture which means you can get less on the memory card. I don't know why this seems to have occurred, presumably something to do with the shutter speed?
I am pleased with the video recording quality and ease and the playback on my Panasonic television is brilliant.
The flash works well and operates on auto as you would expect.
It is very easy to use the camera and you can set up once and then you don't have to alter too much.
The zoom lens is acceptable.
I have not used the GPS tracking as this is not something I think I would benefit from, but a good option for people who like to log their location.
I would recommend this as a good, basic camera
I decided that I was going to treat myself to a new camera for our honeymoon to Thailand. I spent a lot of time researching cameras online and found myself keep coming back to the Lumix TZ20. My Mum has the TZ10 and raves about it.
So I managed to get a great deal and went for it. I found it easy to navigate (the downside being that you have to download the instruction manual from the internet) and was able to set it up pretty quickly. I was amazed by the number of pre-set modes on there - there's food mode, pet mode, baby mode - now I don't really have any idea what these ones are for. But the ones that I have used are - fireworks mode, sunset mode, candle mode, night landscape, etc.
All in all, it's a really simple camera to use, if that's what you want it to be (have to admit, I use the Intelligent Auto function most of the time), but if you are more technically minded than me, then there's lots of options for changing the settings.
I would recommend this camera to anyone looking for a mid-range, reliable camera. I came back from honeymoon with some AMAZING photos.
It has the excellent Lumix lens, and is one of the best compact cameras on the market. Easy functionality, great modes such as 'Artistic shot' and 'Candle light' - and comes in loads of attractive colours. For a camera under £150 I think it's absolutely amazing.
Takes really good photos, good quality in day and night conditions. When uploaded the photos look really good and print out beautifully. Got it in blue and its a lovely colour and perfect size to fit in my hand bag. It is really lightweight whereas I have found that some camera weigh your bag down. It has plenty of different option to change the settings so the picture takes the photo suitable to the situation. The best option I have found is "soft skin" as it gives people a really nice complexion and is flattering. Haven't used the video mode yet but can't see it being a problem as the camera shots are so good. It has a really good option to zoom in and doesn't lose any focus whereas some cameras tend to go a bit blurry when you zoom in. Also takes photos really quickly which is ideal for me as I wanted action shots on a nights out.
Ideal for any one who is interested in photography as a hobby but doesn't take it too seriously!
I had £150 to buy myself a decent camera. After hours searching for the specs I wanted I came across this gem. Not only does it take a cracking picture the extra features it has are amazing!
The camera fits nicely into your hand, looks well made and durable and the controls are all easily reached and feel smooth. In addition, there is an extra button on this model compared to old models which starts recording video straight away... A nice feature which means less fiddling.
A cameras mega pixel size doesn't really matter any more. Any super fine image of 3 mega pixel or above would suffice for point and shoot pictures. This does have 14.1 though so if I ever try my hand at something more fancy, I know it has the power!
However, what I like about this cam its the extra features you get. Let me list them and explain:
x16 optical zoom: not the rubbish digital one! Means I can be 30 feet away and still get 100% quality on a zoomed in face.
Up to 60 second shutter control: Great for blur photos or writing your name in the dark with a sparkler!
HD filming: it films in full 1080p High definition movies @ 30fps!
Rapid fire: Can take 10 pictures in one second! Great for capturing the ball hitting that cricket bat perfectly!
Slow motion movies: Can record at 220fps! This means 1 second in real time equals about 8 seconds when played back! The quality is not amazing with this but a fast and powerful SD card help improves things.
GPS locator: records the GPS coordinates of every photo you take for added memories!
There are a tonne of other features I have not even got round to yet but the ones listed above are what make it great for me!
So far the only fault I have found is I can not add an external microphone. From what I can tell the microphone built in is okay but when recording at a concert it can not handle the bass very well.
