Product Description:
This is a review of the Pentax K-r with 18-55mm lens and optical zoom 3. It has 12.4 megapixels and a 3" LCD viewing screen as well as high speed 6 frames per second continuous shooting.
My experience:
I am an entry level photographer. I have been taking photos on a recreational basis for about a year and have borrowed friends Digital SLR cameras on weekends. I have been looking to buy a camera for about 6 months and have read review after review....exhausting! I finally took the plunge and invested in this Pentax K-r, and I do not regret it!!
This camera produces the high quality pictures you would expect from an SLR. It has a lot of features, so there are many options to explore and develop your photography skills. I find the menu options very easy to navigate and I think it is very accessible for people moving on from a compact camera. The camera is very comfortable to hold, and I felt instantly 'at home' with it.
Having had experience of using my friends camera's - one a Nikon and the other a Canon, I do not regret my choice of a Pentax. Comparatively speaking, I believe the Pentax is excellent value for money.
Drawbacks:
There is no HDMI port
May not be suitable for advanced photographers.
Summary: Excellent camera for beginners, with plenty of functionality to keep you going.
