I bought this camera to take sailing and was quite happy with it until the LCD broke when I had it in my pocket and must have sat on it while sailing. I had hoped that a waterproof camera would be more durable. The camera continues to work (and is still waterproof) but it now requires some guess work to setup a shot as there's no optical viewfinder just an LCD.
The camera seems to have a preset mode for almost everything and i've never needed most but did get some really good results from the sunset mode. The menus are reasonably intuitive and it has some nice features like TV out, a 3x optical zoom, timelapse mode, 14mb of built in memory (for when you forget your SD card) and displaying a clock if you just hold the Ok button (with camera off).
Outdoor daytime photos actually seem a little lacking in colour and slightly blurred but still reasonable. Underwater photos seem to be really crisp and sharp. Used it in the swimming pool several times and found the flash even worked well underwater. There are lots of different resolutions and quality levels available which can be useful if you are going to use the timelapse mode to take thousands of pictures and want to get the most out of your memory card.
Battery life is good and i've never had to recharge it midway through a holiday but i've always taken over cameras for most my above water photography.
I'd recommend this for anyone wanting a good low cost waterproof camera but be careful not to drop it or expose the LCD to any shocks.
Although I still technically have this camera, it no longer works after I used it in water after a big fall. Before that point, I alsolutely loved this camera, as it had fantastic features and brilliant picture quality. The best bit was the waterproof-ness - on holiday, it took perfect, clear pictures of my partner scuba diving, fish, sea anenmoes etc. Even just stuck in a rock pool and pointed in the right direction it gives good pictures! The features are fantastic too, the menu options for close up, landscape, fireworks, snow etc help give really good picture quality. I was also able to take good close up photos of my jewellery, including stones, although oddly the photos came up better on the computer/when processed then they appeared on screen, which meant I took a lot more photos than I actually needed as I had thought they weren't turning out. I did find that the camera sometimes produced images with an orange haze when not taken with a flash. Compared to some other modern cameras this model is weightier and larger, but it WAS pretty hardy until I dropped it, and gave very good pictures.
