I have owned this entry level camera for over a year. It has performed incredibly well and I've had no problems. Picture quality is a generally good (7 megapixels), there are a large number of different shooting modes underwater, landscape etc. I have put the camera through a lot of punishment taking it whitewater kayaking and it seems to be shockproof to a certain degree. Menus are easy to navigate through and battery life is reasonoble, I would reccomend buying a couple of extra batteries from ebay for longer trips (I did this and found they had longer life than the battery provided with the camera). This probably isnt the best option for enthusiastic photographers, but is a brilliant option for those who want a quality 'point and shoot' camera. Video can be shot at 30 fps which is OK, but i have had problems with the zoom causing audio interferance to video footage.
The Optio W20 is the latest model in the PENTAX Optio W series of cameras that are waterproofed for underwater photography without requiring a waterproof case or other accessories. This model features a new Shake Reduction mode, which allows you take sharper photos without camera shake or subject blurring even of low-light scenes or fast-moving subjects, and an upgrade to a 7.0-effective-megapixel. All told, this camera boasts better image quality in a fun, easy-to-handle package.
