Ricoh Caplio G4 wide ... zoom out for 28mm wide angle shooting, the Caplio G4 wide lets you extend the scope of the shot to portray your subjects within much more expansive contexts. It also blends high-quality imaging ability with superb functionality and allows you to grasp every opportunity with a world leading shutter release time lag of just 0.14 seconds and a superior start-up time of only 1.8 seconds.

An advanced zoom lens helps bring the shot into reach. With a 3x optical zoom lens plus a 3.4x digital zoom, the Caplio G4 wide provides an amazing 10.2x zoom. This is equivalent to a telephoto range of 28-289mm on a regular 35mm film camera. Capture details from the astonishing distance of only 1cm. Or use the tele macro function, which provides the same magnification but allows you to move the camera 4cm away to keep the shadow from creeping into the shot. The Caplio G4 wide also has a built-in flash for shots as close as 9cm with no whiteout effect.

Whether your away on holidays, at a photo shoot, or just out for the day, battery life is no longer a problem. By using the included rechargeable lithium-ion battery, the Caplio G4 wide can take a remarkable 4, 300 shots between recharges, so you don't need to worry about ever running out of power. The camera also has the convenient ability to switch to two AA alkaline or nickel metal hydride batteries. This flexibility is perfect for those regularly on the road.

The R7 has improved so much compared to my older R5. The relocation of the zoom lever back to the front (same as the R6) permits better holding/zooming with one hand. The unique ADJUST button which operates like a joystick works well. Startup is fast & you'll be ready to shoot within 2 seconds. Zooming from wide to tele is very fast. Focusing ...

series. Most notable difference is the Power button relocated to the back of the camera. This makes it easier to locate. However, if you use the soft pouch supplied by Ricoh and place it in your pocket, there is high chance the Power button can get depressed when you squat down. The lens extends out in the pouch whie still in your pocket. The solution: I always set the Mode Dial to PLAYBACK before sliding it to the pouch. Close-up pictures are very good. IClose-up lover will appreciate the Close-Up AF Target Selection Function, where you can shift the focusing pointer off-center. Noise level has also improved over the G4s. Other functions retained from the G4 are the ...

This camera is very easy to use after initial familiarisation. It has many useful facilities and downloads rapidly. I purchased the larger memory (64Kb) card from Jessops which gives me about 80 shots before I need to download. It does however, absolutely eat batteries. This is though, a common failing with all digital cameras. The clarity of ...
