Advantages: 7x optical lens, Superb close up.

Disadvantages: Disappointing shake reduction. Focus inconsistency in low light.

The R7 has improved so much compared to my older R5. The relocation of the zoom lever back to the front (same as the R6) permits better holding/zooming with one hand. The unique ADJUST button which operates like a joystick works well. Startup is fast & you'll be ready to shoot within 2 seconds. Zooming from wide to tele is very fast. Focusing is fast & accurate but tend to lag in low light. I ordered 3 units for my company use, typically for close up job. Everyone loves them and they're amazed with the price (around USD445 with 3 years warranty). The Continuos-S mode is very useful for sports analysis where is take 16 shot in 2 seconds, framing it into one file You can view each frame in sequence. Playback and scrolling between the pictures are fast. The 2 "MY" presets allow you to save 2 different frequenly used settings. Very useful for those who frequently need to change settings.

Summary: Overall, a very useful 7x zoom camera to carry around. Suitable for amateurs & above.
