Ricoh Caplio G4 ... 28 to 85mm while the G4 is 35 to 105mm. I prefer a wider angle to start with. The G4 models are considered very bulky by currents standards but the design of the grip is still comfortable for one hand operation. Many people have problem looking for the power button as it is overshadowed by the mode dial. Startup is a bit slow when you have the Flash mode on as the flash charges up, typical wait it around 4-5 seconds. However, the flash is quite weak for indoor shots. Close up up to 1 cm is a selling point for this camera. One feature that Ricoh beats the rest of the camera in the market is the capabilty to use both Lithium Ion battery or AA batteries. Ricoh Caplio R7 ... of the zoom lever back to the front (same as the R6) permits better holding/zooming with one hand. The unique ADJUST button which operates like a joystick works well. Startup is fast & you'll be ready to shoot within 2 seconds. Zooming from wide to tele is very fast. Focusing is fast & accurate but tend to lag in low light. I ordered 3 units for my company use, typically for close up job. Everyone loves them and they're amazed with the price (around USD445 with 3 years warranty). The Continuos-S mode is very useful for sports analysis where is take 16 shot in 2 seconds, framing it into one file You can view each frame in sequence. Playback and scrolling... Ricoh Caplio R6 ... R6 continues where the R5 left off with some notable features. The Zoom switch has been relocated to be operated by the forefinger. One feature I really appreciate is the LED for low light shooting. Dual size recording help you save 2 files each shot. The slimmer body makes storage more pleasing. Battery life is very good. Ricoh's close up capability is second to none. There are more "scene modes" compared to the R5. However, moving the movie mode further into the system is unwise....
