Advantages: Very clear and high quality photos
Disadvantages: flash sometimes too bright
Having a baby is an excellent excuse to pick up a digital camera, and that's exactly what we did. We chose this model as it seemed to have everything we wanted, and that's proven to be the case.
First off, the camera has LOADS of features. I haven't used them all in the year I've had the camera, and I'm quite happy with that. I couldn't explain them all to you here even if I wanted to! So I'll get right onto the main thing - the pictures it takes.
The pics are very high quality - 8.1 megapixels may be techno-gabble to a lot of readers, so let me put it in simple terms - the quality is amazing: extremely clear, not at all grainy (like my dad's 2mp camera). You cannot fault the pictures, and unless you are a professional photographer doing weddings and things like that, this camera will do you fine.
The camera also has the ability to record film, and will do about 20 mins on my 512mb card, but that's proven to be more than enough to take the odd snippet of action.
There is one downside:the flash. It can sometimes be difficult to get the right level of brightness in a photo. For example, taking a pic of my son in the living room, it was too dark without flash and too light with it. The answer is to open the curtains, or move to a different location. So I would say that the camera is great, but the brightness issue sometimes requires a little active thinking.
Summary: An almost flawless camera, that will suit all but the most professional need
