Bought this camera a couple of years back and must say I still use it, the camera is well designed and takes high quality pictures. Its probably not the sharpest for pictures as they do not always come out clear but at the price of under 50 quid brand new you can not argue with that at all now can you?
All the pictures mostly come out picture perfect!I also did the Face Recognition thing they had in this. What this is brings a small box whenever you take a photo of some one. This really makes sure the quality of the picture comes excellent. This really helps when taking pictures and its a good feature in the camera, maybe one of the best features in the camera.
If there is something I can moan about its th speed of the camera which can be quite slow at times if you are using the face detection method.Once you press the button to take a photo expect a delay of ten seconds the most for the photo to be taken. Also when you took photos in quick succession you can get problems of not clear pictures or waiting too long to take the next one which is the main issue with the camera to be honest.
I can not really fault the camera about from that, its at a good price. If you want a camera which takes reasonable pictures, good quality images plus at a price which I would say is very affordable then the Samsung L100 is the one for you.
Christmas 2008 and I'm sitting there opening presents with my Dad in the morning. He runs off to his room when we'd finished opening them and I was sat there trying on my new coat he'd bought me and sticking the new CD I'd got in the player when he brings in a present all wrapped up as a surprise.
Upon opening it and screaming with excitement over the new camera my Dad had so lovingly went out and bought for me, I was shocked to see it was also pink!.
I had never had a camera, I had always borrowed my grandparents one if I needed one for a special event so having my own was lovely. I opened the box and was greeted with a great lightweight digital camera, and at that point, the face detection and Image stabilization was quite new to the world of cheaper digital cameras. My dad told me it cost around £65 from Tesco where he could afford to buy the camera as he had some Clubcard vouchers to use up making it quite low priced for him in terms of spending cash.
After searching everywhere online i couldn't find one to purchase brand new anywhere. There are lots of refurbished ones on Ebay or ones being sold in excellent used condition reaching around £10-15 at the end of the auctions which is an excellent price to pay.
The Camera is 9cm x 5.5cm x 2cm which is rather compact and the square edges make it look more elegant than some of the more chunky bubbly looking ones. The screen is 2.5 inch/5cm wide which is just the right side for this compact. The colour is a dusty pink which is just the right shade to keep that more "expensive" look about it.
Instead of filling this review with Specifications that we can all get from the likes of Google, I wanted to give you my thoughts and experiences with the camera.
My favourite thing about this camera, was that It was easy to work, no fuss and no buttons which I didn't use. I started a fashion course at college in 2007 which in my second year required a lot of photography work so my wonderful little camera worked brilliantly for all the things i needed to photograph. It always took wonderful photos of people too. Everyone looked glowing and more tanned than usual and as it is an 8.2mp quality camera, it didn't show everyone's blemishes they way cameras do now. The battery is chargeable which is brilliant. You just plug the camera into the usb and attach the usb to either your computer or the plug for the wall which is comes with as an attachment. I thought this was brilliant as i could also plug my Ipod into the socket too as they charge through your computer usually.
As this camera is now discontinued and not available to purchase brand new from big retailers, I wouldn't suggest it to first time buyers. If your are buying a camera for the first time, or if you don't know too much about cameras and Ebay, then I would suggest you get something brand new with a warranty with it just incase something goes wrong.
Most cameras come with all the same sort of features now. You can choose settings of scenery shots, portraits, night mode etc which rarely get used when I am using cameras as i tend to create my own settings and set it up to how I like it. The image stabilization is brilliant as when I had my daughter in 2009 and she was wriggling around i could take some lovely photos of her without it blurring.
The face recognition is a great feature also and when the camera detects a face is in the shot, it will bring up a square on the screen for you to keep their face in and when the photo is processed, the camera has focused really well onto the face.
Like I said before if you haven't owned a camera before or you haven't had much experience with them, I don't recommend buying this from sellers on Ebay as it will be either used or refurbished.
The samsung L100 is an excellent camera for taking photos of people and also of scenic views.
I loved this camera when I got it, and it got water damage so unfortunately It had to be sent in for recycling as it wasn't usable any more but I do plan to get one from Ebay to use again.
Thanks for reading this review.
When I've read reviews on this site I have found that a lot discuss or detail the technical details of a product and compare it to other brands/models etc. I do find this useful, however my review is much more basic than that.
Personally when I go shopping for a camera I am looking for a model that looks good, isn't too big, does the job quickly and easily and isn't overly complicated. Although it is nice to have lot's of different features, I also like to be able to point and shoot.
I received this camera as a gift, already having a camera I got rid of the older one and started to use this one instead, and I was glad I did.
The Samsung L100 is a compact camera at 9cm x 5.5cm x 2cm. It is matt black which means you don't get lot's of annoying finger smudges all over the casing and looks stylish and neat. Also being black my boyfriend doesn't mind using it, unlike my old pink camera.
The camers is switched on very easily by simply pressing a small power button which is located at the top and clearly labelled. Next to this you have a wheel that allows you to choose the type of shot you would like. Settings include auto, manual, video, scene, portrait and DIS which is to minimize shaking for moving images when taking a photo. I haven't yet used all of the modes and am ashamed to say I do often resort to auto for most photos. Finally at the top next to the wheel is the capture button, pressing this will capture your picture.
At the back of the camera is a 5cm x 5cm screen, which is very clear and easy to see. Next to the screen is a zoom switch, flicking it up zooms in and down zooms out. Underneath the soom switch is a small button which selects the colour option. Choices include normal, black and white, sepia, red, green, blue, negetive and custom colour. Under the colour button is a size selection button. I have never used this feature but understand it gives you a choice of photo size and quality. This is also the delete button when browsing photos and videos.
Also at the back of the camera are a menu wheel, playback button and flash selector. At the bottom of the camera is a space for a tripod which came with my camera and is really easy to use and very useful. This just screws into place. Next to this is thge battery compartment.
On the side of the side of the camera is an SD card compartment and loop for the neck strap.
I have used this camera quite a few times and like I said, I'm not into all the technical details of cameras etc. What I can tell you is that it takes excellent quality photographs in a variety of settings and is easy to use. The camera is nice and light too, which is quite important to me, as I don't want to feel as though I'm carrying around a brick if I go out for the day with it.
What I really like about this camera is that you can keep it simple orfor more advanced photographers, you can use the features to make the most of each image.
I brought this camera to be honest because I was pregnant and needing a camera to capture all those precious moments, and this one happened to be on offer at the time.
My son now 19 months, has dribbled, dropped, kicked, pressed all buttons imagionalble, and yet it still performs the way it always did.
The picture quality is superb, and really has enabled me to keep all those treasured memories safe.
Its lightweight design is fashional yet practical, however its small buttons may be difficult for those individuals who are partially sighted.
Its easy to use, with a basic picture function to enable the camera to just be switched on and the moment captured forever. It also has more complex functions such as 3 times optical zoom, face detection for portaits and exposure correction. As well as step by step instructions on the camera for individuals wishing to take more advanced photos.
I'll be honest I have only just started using this camera to its full potential, even the video recorder is a function which I have only just began to use. Therefore its advance settings would really aid a budding photographer get to grips with the beauitiful hobby.
I bought this camera in Australia last year to replace one that had been broken on holiday. I chose it because it was cheap but with high specifications compared to the others available and was not disappointed.
I am still using this camera now, despite getting sand inside it and having to get it repaired in Vietnam. The picture quality has diminished slightly because of this but it is still really reliable, and its extra features have continued to impress me.
The image stabilization on this compact and lightweight camera is particularly good, especially when taking quick snaps when out and about. When taking landscape pictures the quality is not as good, but compact digital cameras are rarely designed for this.
The battery life on this camera is particularly good, and I have often found that even when its supposed to have run out I can turn in off and on again and manage to take a few more priceless photos.
Overall I think this camera proved its worth, as it was such good value and out of the 3 cameras I got through whilst travelling, this one made it home and is still working another year on!
The Samsung L100 is an 8.2 Mega pixel compact digital camera with a 3 x optical zoom. The very slim design and high picture quality make for a match made in heaven. There is a range of colours you can get this camera in, but that is just the shell, you really see it's potential when you turn it on and start experimenting with it's many features.
First of all the Samsung L100 is simple to use, and has a clear LCD screen on the back for ease of viewing menu screens and photos that have been taken, and it can be used as soon as it has been charged.
Firstly there is a simple auto setting, which means the camera will choose what it thinks is best for the time of day for example, whether it requires a flash or not.
There is then "scene" where the photographer can decide the settings that best suite what they are taking a photo of, for example there is a sunset setting, which in my opinion is perhaps a little bit too red, each to their own though. This setting is very useful when the camera doesn't choose the correct setting on auto. Another setting i find very useful is the close up which takes very detailed photographs.
There is a portrait setting which is used obviously for taking photos of people. This also involves a special face detection feature which proves very useful and accurate.
There is also a mode which minimizes camera shake, useful for people with shake hands.
The other main setting is movie, where you can record a video onto the camera. This is the only setting I have an issue with as when you are recording and you zoom in, the sound turns off whilst the zooming takes place, this could just be a fault with mine, but this is very irritating.
In price terms I believe Tesco to be the best place to buy it from, at £58.47 they seem to have it at a very good price, and think of all the lovely clubcard points you'll receive at the same time!
Overall as you can see this camera comes packed full of features, and at a very good price, the main problem with it being the movie mode, but after all it is a camera rather than a video camera. The power button also seems slightly temperamental but this could just be my doing.
I had this camera for Christmas and not until recently with a little bit of time have i realised its potential. It comes in a range of colours. I have it in silver but it comes in black, silver, red, pink and light blue. It is 8.2 Megapixels and a 3 X opitcal zoom lense, which is more than enough for what most people need. I take advantage of the face detection for taking photos of people. This is a little box on the screen that detects the face of a person and brings that to the middle. Another good thing is that it has red eye reduction function. It also has some novelty functions such as different colour photos ie.e sepia, black and white, blue, red and an out of this worl kinda one. So snapping can be fun.
Another function is its image stabiliser where it minimises the tremble hand so that the image is clear and not fuzzy. This is good to use when trying to take pictures of fast moving objects too.
It has a built in video recorder too but I dont think this is the best part of the phone, and recording does take up too much of the battery power. Also when using zoom whilst recording, the sound is effected.
The camera is slim so its good for slipping into my litle handbag when i go out. and the battery life is very good and reliable when taking photos (not whilst using the video recorder)which is a great thing for digital camera use.
This is a great little camera. I owned one digital camera before this, but the previous hogged battery life. This is great as it is rechargeable, therefore i don't spend a fortune on batteries.
The picture quality on this little camera is very good. It takes good pictures up close and far away, but does mean that the settings have to be changed for very up close and normal pictures, which took a while to do the first time I used it for this. But the resultant pictures which were taken for my project work were great and look almost professional.
At first it took a while to get used to with the different dial and other options. And at first the pictures appeared blurry, but when put on the automatic setting this stopped.
This camera also has a handy lock function so people do not delete your pictures, which previously got annoying when you went out on night out and took loads of pictures, but then look the next morning to find your friends have deleted pictures of themselves and your left with hardly any pictures.
However I recently dropped this little camera and the lens has stopped working and so can no longer be used. From looking at other reviews this is a common problem so i would advise you to take out accidental insurance when you buy this camera just in case. I wish i had. Waiting to see how much it will cost, hopefully not to much as it really is a great little camera.
I had this camera for christmas, and ever since getting it, i can't stop taking pictures! The quality of the pictures is extremely good and the colours come out great! There are a couple of effects on the camera, for example you can make the picture red, blue, green, black and white, sepia and negative.
Not only does this camera take pictures, but it produces very good quality video's, the picture is almost perfect. However, at first I found the different dials and buttons a little hard to understand and control, after a while of using the camera I eventually got used to using them. The pictures also come out great after printing them and they look professional when transfered onto the computer. The only flaw's i found with the camera is that it is very sensitive to shaking, so sometimes if the camera shakes a little while the picture is being taken, the picture can often come out blury. All in all, this camera is very good.
The L100 camera combines Samsung's Digital Image Stabilization and Intelligent Face Recognition Technology in a compact aluminum body.
Samsung's Intelligent Face Recognition Technology detects the subject's face and automatically adjusts auto focus and auto exposure to ensure better composition and image quality for portraits.
The AF function instantaneously recognizes the faces of subjects and accurately focuses on them before the AE function takes over, setting appropriate exposure to ensure the highest image quality.
This product features 3x optical zoom, a bright 2.5" LCD display and a suite of advanced video and editing features
