Advantages: Very good price and many features

Disadvantages: Movie setting is temperamental

The Samsung L100 is an 8.2 Mega pixel compact digital camera with a 3 x optical zoom. The very slim design and high picture quality make for a match made in heaven. There is a range of colours you can get this camera in, but that is just the shell, you really see it's potential when you turn it on and start experimenting with it's many features.

First of all the Samsung L100 is simple to use, and has a clear LCD screen on the back for ease of viewing menu screens and photos that have been taken, and it can be used as soon as it has been charged.

Firstly there is a simple auto setting, which means the camera will choose what it thinks is best for the time of day for example, whether it requires a flash or not.

There is then "scene" where the photographer can decide the settings that best suite what they are taking a photo of, for example there is a sunset setting, which in my opinion is perhaps a little bit too red, each to their own though. This setting is very useful when the camera doesn't choose the correct setting on auto. Another setting i find very useful is the close up which takes very detailed photographs.

There is a portrait setting which is used obviously for taking photos of people. This also involves a special face detection feature which proves very useful and accurate.

There is also a mode which minimizes camera shake, useful for people with shake hands.

The other main setting is movie, where you can record a video onto the camera. This is the only setting I have an issue with as when you are recording and you zoom in, the sound turns off whilst the zooming takes place, this could just be a fault with mine, but this is very irritating.

In price terms I believe Tesco to be the best place to buy it from, at £58.47 they seem to have it at a very good price, and think of all the lovely clubcard points you'll receive at the same time!

Overall as you can see this camera comes packed full of features, and at a very good price, the main problem with it being the movie mode, but after all it is a camera rather than a video camera. The power button also seems slightly temperamental but this could just be my doing.

Summary: A very good camera for the price, definately worth every penny.
