Advantages: Easy to use
Disadvantages: Probably not the best value choice at this time
It's really tough buying a digital camera with so many choices on the market. I bought the Samsung L83T in late 2007 and I've not had any problems with it so far.
The camera is easy to use, just stick it on 'auto' and let it do the work. As is common with digital cameras, indoor use can be a bit tricky, with the flash flooding the foreground of a photo or everything being a bit blurry without. It's hard work to hold it steady enough for a sharp indoor photo without the flash!
My main gripe with the camera (yes, I know it's more a problem of my own making) is that the lens is in the top corner. When you're holding it you can easily get part of your finger into shot.
Some real positives, it takes SDHC and SD cards, so plenty of room for all those photos. The LCD screen is bright and shows the photos well.
I cannot comment on the software that is bundled with it as I don't connect it directly to my PC, I always remove the SD card to copy the photos.
Charging the camera is easy, just 1 cable plugged into the mains, no docks, charging stations or complicated cables. It holds the charge well.
I'd buy a Samsung again as it's so simple to use, but maybe not this model as I think newer ones can be found that are cheaper and possibly better.
Summary: So simple even I can manage it!
