If you're like me and just want to take a few holiday pictures every now and then, the chances are that you don't need the latest digital camera technology. This camera is a good choice for the average boring user.
Its main strength is the 5x optical zoom - the zoom is often the worst part of a camera, and most cameras in this price range would only manage 3x optical zoom. This is a more important feature than many people realise! At 10.2 megapixels, the image quality should be perfectly good for most users and I've managed to get some excellent looking shots. The image editing software that comes with the camera is also surprisingly useful - the updated version is capable of automatically touching up photos very easily and quickly, even if you have no clue about photography.
My main complaints are battery life and image stabilisation. Batteries seem to go down rather quickly and the camera isn't rechargeable, taking AA batteries. My advice would be to invest in rechargeable batteries! It does also seem rather easy to take blurry pictures, even with the image stabilisation turned on - but if you concentrate a little, you're still able to get perfectly good pictures without much effort.
In all, this is a good camera and I'd recommend it to others. However like all budget cameras, it does have a few weaknesses to keep in mind when deciding whether to buy.
