I bought the Samsung ST30 10 megapixel camera as the camera on my then Nokia mobile was only 2 megapixels and not good enough. The only other camera I have is a Minlota 35 mm SLR which takes fantastic photos but is big and heavy.
So I thought I would treat myself to a new digital camera, and looked around at the best all round one with high resolution for a reasonable price. I narrowed it down to the Kodak Easyshare and this Samsung ST3. At the time the Kodak was a bit more expensive, and the Samsung ST30 was then over £60, now it can be bought for around £40 from some Tesco and between £40 and £50 online.
This camera ( mine is silver there are other colours ) looks very sleek and stylish, and is small and fairly light. It's 5cm by 8cm wide while being only 1.7 cm thick and weighs 86.5.
I loaded up the Intelli Studio software onto my computer ( which is a big programme and slow loading the pictures ) and had the camera set up and working in 20 minutes or so.
I was very pleased with it and to me the picture quality was excellent, being 10 MG PIXEL all images are sharp and clear. There is an auto focus which after a second or two focuses the image as long as you don't have it set to video and record video every time like I did. It also has Digital image stabilisation both of these functions mean you cant really take out of focus pictures as it zooms in on faces and objects and scans them and if you move it focuses on the next object.
There are lots of settings for the camera ( 15 altogether ) to alter the picture and have special affects - such as
FACE DETECTION where you have a few more options to chose from for how to scan and detect faces
Also Beauty shot - which irons out wrinkles
Plus lots of others like cool, calm, sunset, natural green, negative image which I have taken a few of.
You can put a micro SD card up to 2 gb in which is enough for a couple of full films.
RELIABLITY / UPGRADES
Right here it all goes wrong. As with most tech stuff you get asked to upgrade the software ( Intelli Studio ) and also the device itself. There is a micro sd card in the camera to enable this process when you hook up your cable to the computer.
After I upgraded the firmware the camera just didn't work.
It started freezing when I pushed the shutter and not loading any videos or photos, and just stopped functioning.
This was just after the guarantee ended, so this is not a reliable camera in my opinion because of the software updates.
