Rating:
the Nikon but these days most of my photography is done on holidays and for that you definitely need something compact, so I went for the Sanyo instead. The Sanyo Xacti range of cameras are advertised as combined still and video cameras and as such they have a shape which is more video camera than still. The body is about 11cms long and about 7cms wide at its widest, and only about 2.5cms thick. The biggest feature though is that the lens is at the top on the narrow edge. You hold the camera body like a pistol grip and point the lens as though it was the barrel of a gun. This means that one-handed operation is definitely possible. The Xacti has a 6megapixel CCD, ...

point and click camera decided to give up - naturally, I wanted a few happy snappy shots of my holiday, so I rushed out to buy a new one. The Sanyo Xacti VPC-S7 was on sale at the time, and it seemed to me to be a great deal. I m very glad I bought in on sale, however - it takes average pictures, no problem for holiday snaps and the like but of course not intended for the serious photographer. It certainly isn t worth any more than I paid for it. No, my main problem with this camera is that it simply isn t very reliable. The case may well be that I just got unlucky with mine, but if they are all like this I m disappointed. The battery seems to drain an awful lot ...

Rating:
Top class compact Digital Camera with excellent range of options making sharp, good quality images with spot on accurate colours. Stylish and solid build sporting superb Konica Minolta internal 3 x lens/zoom. Action and macro shots are a revelation! Very capable movie mode with sound - but no image stabilization. The very high quality 3 inch screen is outstanding for framing and playback even in bright sunshine. Touch sensitive autofocus shutter button is gimmicky - but works well. Generally the camera is fast to start up and displays very little lag in good light. Lowlight pictures are OK but the flash is not the best on offer. Red eye reduction is available but ...
