Advantages: Easy to use, good picture quality, tilting screen, affordable.

Disadvantages: There is no movie mode and some buttons are a bit easy to press by mistake.

Going to a college where all my friends had their own SLR cameras, I was the only one still capturing images on my small compact camera. I had always thought DSLR cameras would be hard to use. However, I had soon came across the Sony Alpha390.

A light, stylish and very easy to use camera for those who would like to move up to using DSLR's. With its on screen guide book, you no longer have to spend hours reading the small complicated texts in user manuals trying to understand what all the complex words mean. The live view tilting screen allows you to capture pictures from awkward positions.

Even though Sony is not one of the strongest names in the DSLR industry, this camera is a very successfully product. For the price you pay, you are getting a lot for your money compared to other brands of cameras.

I personally recommend all beginner photographers to buy this camera as it is very user friendly and you can create some really good photography.

Summary: Brilliant value for money.
