On opening the box, my first impression was how small and simpler the P10 was. After checking the manual to ensure I enserted the battery and Memory stick (32Mb) the correct way, I was ready to take my first photos. After years of using an SLR film camera, I have been very disappointed with the results from many digital cameras, but after using the P10, I was pleasantly suprised. The P10 offers many different resolutions, but I set it to the maximum of 5.0 megapixels to gauge the quality. I couldn't believe the results. After a lot of dithering I narrowed my selection of a digital camera down to 2, the Fuji Finepix 6800 Zoom and the Sony DSC-P1. In the end the Sony won. Why? Well… This is what I was looking for in a camera 1. Small, so that it would fit into my handbag on nights/days out. 2. Excellent quality of pictures 3. Zoom lens 4. LCD monitor 5. Self timer I was tempted to go worth the Fuji because the accessories, memory cards etc. are a lot cheaper. But the Sony won because of its size. It is slightly smaller. I bought this camera before going on holiday really because I am a gadget freak more than anything else. I am a fan of Sony products but I did search around for, what I thought, the best camera before buying. When I bought the camera I also bought a 64mb memory stick as well because the 8mb one that comes with it is way too small for good quality pictures. For most pictures taken I used the 2nd best quality which managed around 40 pictures to be stored. The picture quality is absolutely stunning especially on Macro.
