The battery life is long and displayed on the screen, which means you can keep an eye on whether it needs recharging. I find the movie feature excellent. that good so the sound quality is not great. The memory sticks are the standard Sony ones that are easy to get hold of... you might already have one in an MP3 player hanging around. You can buy one of those cheap card readers to transfer the images to save plugging in the cables and camera.
