I bought this to complement a larger SLR camera i already had, so I was looking for a much smaller camera to just pop in my handbag and take everywhere with me. This little Sony really fits that bill!
It really is small, the eons does not protrude at all. You hardly notice you even have it. I love the way the top slides open and closed to reveal the lens. It also keeps it really well protected. It is touch screen which means it's an absolute pleasure to use. The camera only has 10.9 megagpixels which is about middle of the range for cameras of this size. The new Panasonic lumix models have around 14. However for such a small camera it still does take really nice pictures. You, obviously, cannot compare the pictures you take on this to ones you would get on a SLR, but then you would use this camera to take all your wedding pictures! It's compact camera, that you really can keep with you at at all times.
Having the flash on does drastically reduce shutter speed which does make the camera less than ideal if you are mainly using it to take pictures of children.
The video element is excellent. To shoot videos you just need to slide the switch along the top of the camera, not a single button to press. It means that if you are taking pictures and decide to shoot a video too you can change mode pretty much instantly without missing the moment by searching through a menu.
For what you get, and how long it lasts, the price is definitely reasonable. A great buy.
I have the Sony cybershot in Pink and have had it for nearly two years now. I think the camera is great and don't think I will purchase anything other than Sony in the future. The camera is slim, lightweight and looks great (especially as mine is pink, which I think sold it to me!). The touchscreen display is great, as the screen is a good size. I personally thinks it is easy to use compared with other cameras I have had, there are various settings and borders etc to personalise your photos which I think is useful to edit photos on the go. The only annoying thing that I have found in the settings is that you cannot force the flash, only select auto or flash off. The smile detector is also great fun and genious, when the camera detects someone smiling, it automatically takes a photo! Picture quality is also great, as you would expect with most sony cameras, you won't be disapointed!
Firstly, I love anything that is SONY!! LOL!! Ok, I must be unbiased here. So yeah, only the true reviews.
The first look, I love the design and simplicity of the camera. This sliding down cover is a strong plus for me as I can snap pictures fast and easy. However, some of my friends have difficulty using it as they ain't familiar with this features. So, not totally user friendly here. Also, it is slim and lightweight. I can just slip in my pocket and bring it everywhere with me. However, when I put in the leather casing it become pretty bulky.
Simplicity is the key here. Just slide down and shot. You can take good shots even if you didn't focus it long enough! So, yeah.. even my 4 year old nephew can use this.. just make sure he doesn't drop it.
Quality picture vice, I get good shots even from far distance and totally love it's SL (Slow Flash) mode. I can take more natural shots especially at night or at low light places. Now with the face detection feature, pictures are sharp and clear but at times, the face detection slows down the shots. You got to say like "Ok.. wait for it.. Smile.. good!" Well, can't complaint much as SLR camera can do better here but definitely cost you far more!
Frankly, I am not a fan for touch screen in camera but this model does it gracefully. Kids love this feature though! I have use this camera to 'entertain' my baby boy! :)
Another strong point is the long life battery. I always felt good whenever there is a wedding event in my church and I start snapping away like a few hundreds of shots in comparison to some of my friends who needs to restrict their shots due to battery issues.
Now, as I said, I take my camera everywhere. I once brought it to a beach for some nice photo shots. I was taking some low near the waves and suddenly the ocean water splashes to my camera. You can imagine the horror in my face. But luckily, nothing happen to my camera. I just switch it off and swing a few times to get rid of the water (and prayed) and it was working again! Talk about quality stuff! :)
Also, I did dropped this camera a few times. Not too high drop and the camera works fine.
Small compact, light weight and innovative design
Quick shots with lots of nice features.
Kids and even baby friendly.
Long battery life.
Easy upload to PC or TV.
Tough built and drop shock proof (personal experience)
Finger print magnet
Screen easily scratch - need screen protector
Screen dead pixels due to strong magnet from casing
Summary : I still love this camera despite all its cons. :)
I have had my Sony Cybershot for a while now and it never fails!! I needed a camera that would take a range of pictures with ease and precision. The face detection device makes it easy to get a clear picture of each person. I like how the camera is sleek and stylish and not bulky at all. The camera can be plugged straight into my laptop for easy download. The picture quality is very good and the colours are sharp and vibrant. I feel this is a good camera if you want something stylish and lightweight. The camera is very easy to use and my 8 year old daughter can use it easily. I like how you can use the screen to sort pictures and delete and keep as necessary. The touch screen is very easy to use!!! The camera has always been very reliable and the battery lasts a long time.
Yes, I like that it is beautiful. You'll find I often like to talk about things that I can slip into my handbag, and this nifty piece of kit fits the bill superbly. It's also remarkably rugged for such a dainty design. Taken out of it's beautiful red leather case, I dropped it quite ungracefully onto the floor. My panic was unfounded, it dusted itself on and went on to produce remarkable sharp images, with clear colours and excellent definition. I will however be trying not to attempt this product test again.
Onto it's finer points, having had a previous version, I knew that sliding the lens cover down would start it up. Perhaps not terribly obvious to the those handling it for the first time. I love the sensitivity of the touch screen, and as a point and click shooter myself (no real in-depth or detailed knowledge of all the vagaries of photography), the auto focus is wonderfully sensitive and 9.5/10 times I get my shot with no blur.
For the uninitiated, the panoramic mode is easy to use, and the menus are well organised for the novice. It's light, it's beautiful, it's a 10 megapixel camera with clout, and though on the pricier side, should make a great first camera to those not as butterfingered as the reviewer.
Attracted by this camera mainly because it is so good looking, and I pretty like the sliced camera shot. The compact lence makes the body much thinner than other normal cameras. Also, the finish is shining and smooth, I'd have to say, Sony is very good at appearance reprentative, girls tend to like them. Personly, I really like the bog screen at back, you got a better view of what are you taking. There are a few basic control bottons on the top, but the main control system you can simplily tonch the back screen. The system is clear understandable and quite easy to set up and change model. I am quite satisfy about the quality of photos, both light and colour are just right, photos are more clear and looks better than my friends' cameras, espically in the evening or at night. The bettery lift is OK, I can use for whole two days travelling.
