***What is it***
The sony cybershot DSC-W35 is a 7.2mp small discreet (9cm w, 6cm h, 2.3cm d) digital camera that has 3x optical zoom capability and a 2 inch viewing screen. Depending on where you shop it retails currently at between £110 and £140
This camera would be suitable for anyone who wants to take good quality pictures, though you are paying for the sony brand as there are many 7.2mp cameras at far lower prices though maybe not as reliable.
I have used this camera for everything from family pictures to product pictures and all pictures have come out at a good quality, low light pictures benefit from the flash that can be selected on the top dial or if you are not sure of the best setting there is an auto adjust function available. You can also choose the quality of pictures shot (the better the quality the more memory space it takes).
The internal memory is very small 56mb and will only hold about 10-20 pictures depending of quality selected so you would need to buy a memory stick pro/duo memory card, i found these very expensive at shops between £20-£30 for 2gb, so i went online and they are much cheaper at around £7.
It is very easy to use and the manual is simple to read and understand, transferring images to a computer is also a breeze as it comes up as an external device and i can either transfer all pictures to my computer at once or drag and drop the files i please.
The battery is lithium ion and holds a significantly large charge and will take well over 350 shots (this is all i have taken at once) without the battery indicator flashing.
3x optical zoom
2 inch view screen
56mb internal memory
Slot for memory stick pro/duo
I love this camera, you may pay extra for the sony brand but it is reliable and trustworthy and has not broken even after dropping it several times and my son having a good go at it. Quality for the price is unbeatable for me
My last digital camera, a Fuji, had broken after only 18months so I bought this camera last year as it was on sale at Argos at a little over £100.
Its certainly the best camera I have ever owned. It is small in the hand but pleasingly heavy giving the impression of good build quality.
Its very easy to use as a 'point and shoot' just making sure the little wheel points to the camera icon. There are also lots of other features - some pictured on the wheel and some accessed through pressing the menu button.
It has 7.2 pixels though the photos are easily as good as my son's more expensive 10 pixel camera - we could see no difference.
It has a zoom facility, and auto flash.
Videos are very easy with this camera - point the wheel to video icon, turn it
on, press the shoot button and take the video - take finger off the shoot button when finished.
One of the special things about this camera is that it has a useful internal memory that means you can take about 16 photos without inserting a memory stick. So if you buy this as a gift or forget to purchase the extra Sony Memory Stick, you can still use the camera instantly.
It comes complete with a USB wire which you just attach into the camera and the larger end into a computer's USB socket, turn on the camera and the pictures import straight onto your computer.
The accompanying User Booklet is good and easy to use - there is also a Quick Use leaflet which I folded and leave in my camera case.
The only drawbacks I have found is that the on/off switch is tiny and I think people with bitten down nails or small children, may find it difficult to operate.
This camera i have had for the last couple of years and it has taken hundreds of excellent photographs. Most recently on a trip to the beach it produced photos of near professional quality. I know now you can buy cameras which much higher pixel resolution than the 7.2mp this camera has to offer, but i cant imagine how the pictures could have been any more vivid and sharp. Extremely easy to use, point and shoot, small enough and lightweight. Zoom is average for an everyday camera. This camera has been dropped numerous times and survived but not the attack of my three year old who pushed the mechanical lens until it broke. However i contacted sony and had it repaired under garauntee in double quick time and would highly recommend their aftercare service. In conclusion a great everyday camera for anyone over 3 and the only problem i have is trying to find places for all the wonderful photos it has produced.
After getting this as a birthday present one year I can safely say that I am very impressed with this digital camera. The screen is a great size for previewing and altering settings whilst also allowing enough space for all the extra buttons.
The software on the camera is easy to use and very accessible for any age. The buttons aren't too small to be a problem to use and each menu is simple to navigate through.
With it being a 7.2 megapixel lens then the picture quality is very good with a minimal amount of blurring (which some cameras can suffer from). Getting your photos off the camera is as simple as connecting it up (via usb cable) and then dragging and dropping the files onto your PC or laptop.
The size of the camera means that taking it on holiday or on a night out etc. is easy. The battery is rechargable and the camera comes with a cradle to charge the battery with.
The slim, compact DSC-W35 model sports 7.2-megapixel imager and precision Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lenses. It combines traditional, eye-level viewfinder with large LCD screen for easy framing and viewing of photos. The W35 camera shimmers in silver with a two-inch screen. This model features 3x optical zoom capability, blur-reduction technology (ISO), and substantial internal memory for shooting without a media card. Its storage capacity can be expanded further with an optional Memory Stick Duo or Memory Stick PRO Duo flash media card.
