      The Product:

      Sony DSC-WX200S.CEH Silver

      About Sony:

People of a certain age probably best remember Sony for the introduction of lightweight music on the move when they brought out the Sony Walkman? That's what always comes to my mind (still) anyway.
SONY are a huge company based in Japan and today are known as being a leading global organization involved in the development and manufacture of audio, video, communications and IT products. Perhaps lesser known for their expansive photographic range outside of the photography industry?
A quick check on their website reveals that Sony employs almost 170,000 people world-wide and that they pride themselves on being innovative leaders in technology.

      The Camera:

      Measuring just 93mm long x 53mm wide x 22mm deep
      Weighing in at around 100g
      18.2 megapixels
      Intelligent Auto
Has lots of other great features including movie mode, face recognition, zoom and WIFI facility when linked to a Smartphone.
      10x Optical Zoom

My Personal Experience of the Camera:

I was given this camera by a friend who won it in a competition and I use a Sony camera at work, so I was already familiar with the operation and controls. Actually, it is not that different to the Panasonic Lumix that we also own.

Naturally, I have tried it out and it has a good fast reacting zoom facility and great auto focus capabilities, which is great for a point and click camera. I have taken it out across the fields and taken some landscape and close up photos, including a lovely portrait of a woodpecker. The camera fits well into the pocket of my coat and is pleasing to hold in the hand. I have entered some of my photos into a photography competition, so, we'll see - I'll update if I win anything!

I took a short VT in view of this review of my dogs playing and that is better than the satisfactory I get from the Panasonic, but probably not as good as I would expect from my dedicated video camera. I like the quick, sharp auto reactions of this camera and look forward to making better use of it in the coming months.

An interesting feature is a turning your photos into painting style works of art before uploading and/or printing. I intend to play around with that function a bit more before Christmas, I could make some interesting little gifts with that feature!

Uploading onto the PC is straightforward and easy, the software was easy to load and the camera is very easy to copy and delete from.

      Any problems?

No, none at all as yet, but it is early days for us with this camera!

      Appearance:

Finished in Silver the Sony is a classy looking little camera, with the Sony name proudly displayed to the side of the lens. The function buttons are clear and easy to understand and situated on the top and down the side of the rear of the camera.

      In Conclusion:

There are so many possibilities with this camera, it is a must to take on holiday, on long country walks, to concerts, parties, you name it Sony can go. Its handy size and light weight make it ideal for air travel and outdoor activities.

I am really looking forward to having fun with the Sony.

      Price and Availability:

I was given mine, but a quick search, throws up lots of hits on-line and I'm sure they are also sold in good photography shops too. At around £155-£200 depending on where you buy it from, I am pleasantly surprised at the value of my gift. I thought it was about £60.00! However, the Sony DSC performs well and I am sure it is worth the price tag. I will update!

Thank you for reading my review and I hope you found it useful.
