Sony Cyber-shot DSC-F828The Real Imaging Processor delivers increased speed with lower power consumption, enabling the F828 to capture an eight-megapixel image in almost half the time required by typical five-megapixel cameras! New manual controls, coupled with Carl Zeiss T optics, gives advanced photographers a broader range of mechanisms to determine focus, exposure and recording modes. Images can be stored onto CompactFlash Type I and Type II media, as well as a Microdrive hard disk drive or Memory Stick PRO media. The Cyber-shot F828 truly embodies a premier imaging experience. Announced in August 2003. The Sony DSC 828 caught my eye straight away, 8 mega pixels, Zeiss lens, professional looks and a bargain price. The camera was subject to significant delays and eventually shipped in the first week of 2004. After some major research I sold my D60 and took delivery of a shiny new 828. Shrewd move or major mistake? Read on. In the box The first thing that struck me was how light the box and at one stage I did think Sony had sent me an empty one!. Once inside the bundle is reasonable you get: Cyber-shot DSC-F828 camera NP-FM50 battery and charger/mains adapter Software including Pixela ImageMixer software, USB ... Read the complete review

I'm getting started in the wedding photography business, and have used the Minolta Dimages (7Hi and A1) for several months. The big problem with both was very poor autofocusing ability under dim lighting conditions. Naturally, weddings are often shot under such conditions, so I was looking for an answer. When I read about the Sony DSC-F828, and the holographic project focusing (where the camera projects a laser pattern onto the subject to ensure accurate focusing), that seemed to be the answer to my prayers, and I acquired one soon afterwards (a few weeks ago). I'll be trying it out on an actual wedding in a few days, but here are my impressions ... Read the complete review

"Very well made, loaded with quality and professional picture taking tools" Geno on 12-Jan-2004 08:38:30 PM Pros: Had a long wait for this camera and it was worth it. Build quality is fantastic and the controls are very easy to use once you use them for the first time. I have had over 10 digital cameras starting with my first a Panasonic taking a superdisc. Wow 1.3 megs. I have had 5 Sony models as well as other top brands but nothing compares to the F828. The color is super and worth the price twice over. I cannot wait for the reviews to come out and see how the experts rate this camera against higher priced SLRS. I mention SLRS because there is nothing ... Read the complete review

I have had several digital cameras, most recently a sony 717 as was looking forward to getting the 828. I am very dissapointed with the results from this camera, there is too much purple fringing on high contrast shots to be acceptable. The camera its self is very well made and feels much more professional than the 717. It has a comprehensive feature set, but until picture quality improves I cannot recommend this camera. I will be returning the camera and am looking for another one to replace it. I am thinking about a Minolta A1 or a Canon Sureshot G5 as this would go well with my Canon 10D (a truly Great camera !!) Hope this is of some use to ... Read the complete review
