First, I should declare my bias - I am a big fan of Sony products, and although i buy stuff based on features and price, I will am willing to pay slightly more for a Sony product that is otherwise equal with other models.

And so it was that I came to own a P1.

And I love it!

It is very compact, but not so small as to be fiddly. And it is camera shaped - I really dont like the 'square' cameras. Taking pictures is a breeze, and it will hold over 30 snap shots on the memory stick included.

The quality of these pictures is very good, but if you want something printable, you can go up to 3Megapixels, at which point the image quality is simply stunning.

Pictures are transferred from the camera to your PC using a USB cable, which is so easy to use its not funny.

If you dont have a USB connector, Sony sell a floppy disk that you can insert the memory stick into. You then put the disk in your drive and read the images off it. Now THAT is clever.

And just to really show off, they also sell a mouse that has a memory stick slot in it too. So they have covered every conceivable base.

There are loads of picture effects, although to be honest I havent used them in action, and an array of settings, from panoramic view to exposure levels.

I also like the fact that I will be able to use memorysticks in other Sony products, so I dont have to worry about the cost of buying extra sticks as they will have a use elsewhere.

All in all, and excellent camera, and a fitting addition to the Sony stable.

Oh, and I will end with a gripe - they dont include a carrying case with the camera, so I ended up paying an extra £25 to get one. One black mark to Sony.
