Advantages: Light, Compact, Great Zoom
Disadvantages: Don't drop it with the lens extended
I owned a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P200 for nearly two years during which time it experienced a thorough testing, and travelled nearly 60,000 miles.
It is light and compact, but its 7.2Mega pixels provides a high quality picture, both for still shots, and video.
One of the things I liked best about this model was the big (2 inch) LCD screen that was reasonably easy to see even in bright sunlight.
Other great features include the zoom that gives a better quality picture than you might expect for a camera of this price.
There is very little I can say against this camera, but in the interests of a balanced review, here are a couple of quibbles.
You need to plug in the camera to charge it. Some people might see this as a positive point, but it does have the disadvantage for me as I do quite a lot of travelling in places without mains electricity. Personally I find it easier to charge several batteries and carry them with me as spares, rather than having to plug in the actual camera.
I did eventually manage to break this camera. It had been dropped many times and always survived, but this time it was dropped with the lens extended, and the mechanics jammed causing the camera to be permanently open. It was my own fault for dropping it, but it’s just a vulnerability that needs to be pointed out.
Summary: Great Picture Quality, Can't beat it for the price - Everyone should have onre.
