Advantages: Get snap happy @ no cost, Easy of use, Picture quality
Disadvantages: You have to press the button yourself, You have to remember to take it with you
I have owned many cameras over the past years, including pocket 35mm, Cannon EOS 600 SLR, & various APS cameras. NONE of these cameras has taken pictures as good as the DSC-S85, although the EOS 600 came close (it should do as a high spec 35mm SLR. The ease of use is astonishing. For those who don't want to know how to take pictures the fully automatic mode is just that, automatic, and takes great pictures, both indoors and out. I have now converted totally to digital and have a multi stage process for my pictures: 1. Take as many as I want 2. Delete the obvious duds from the camera 3. Load all the good pictures to my PC (& keep a backup) 4. Periodic archive to CD to build a secure library of my photos for the future 5. Order prints for those that are worth it (I use photobox.co.uk and the results are excellent) Basically I now take 10 times as many photos (they cost nothing!). I keep most of them on my PC and now have very few printed as proper photos. When I look at my old collection of photos I realise that the only time I looked at them was when they first arrived. Also I have found that when I look at my old photos (APS & 35mm) critically, the level of definition in the image is nothing close to the S85. The biggest advantage: it's instant. no more will I get a film back from the developer to find that the last few snaps of last year's holiday have arrived. No longer will I have to check to see how many shots are left on my film before going out.

A good first op - although I would have liked a few more details about the camera itself.
Hope you have fun here ;) |
