This camera can be used straight out of the box, that is after you have charged the battery. You do not have to read an extensive manual to find out how to turn it on and the onboard menu is simple to use. Premium Review uses floppy disks to store images (246 words)

Rating:

Excellent camera for taking snapshots. Pretty good definition, Although could be better for making larger prints (8 By 10 and up). The zoom capability is very good, as is its ability to take nice, acceptible shots in lower than optimum light conditions. In my opinion, battery life could be better, a plus here is the auto shut off when it has been idle for a time, but when actively taking photos, it just seems like there should be another 1/2 hour or so to battery life. Basically good onscreen instructions for the picture effects abilities, however, I would certainly like a few "reminders" on a laminated card that would come attached to the shoulder strap. Premium Review Sony Mavica MVC-FD73: SONY MAVICA.. A Maveric of a camera (141 words)
by - written on 05/07/00 (Useful, 239 readings)
Rating:

SONY builds quality machines, and this camera is no exception. Although it is large it has TWO outstanding features. The first is it has 10x optical zoom, and the second is that you can use FLOPPY DISC's to storeimages. This is Alot cheaper than using smart media cards, and you can then use the disc on any pc. The main draw back of this camera is its resolution. With a Res of 350K, its not really good enough for todays standards, but if sony were to get hgher res. than not many piccies would fit on to the floppy disc.. so i guess you have to compromise. If you do have the money to buy a digi camera than, go and buy the Fuji MX1200. Its much cheaper and better ...  Read the complete review

Rating:

FD-73 is not bad at all apart from its size and slight lower Resolution output The things is that the floppy disc friendly design give u a flexibility while you are travelling Lets put it this way, what if you run out of memory while you are shooting aboard? it will be real piss off if you can't take the pics you want aren't it? but with FD-73, you can just go into any shop and buy more cheap floppy disc and continue shooting! FUN Unfortunately, like any other SONY products they are design to broke down after the one year garentee as my is broken down 14 months after purchase!! ...  Read the complete review
