Advantages: Auto and semi-manual modes
Disadvantages: none
I waited a long time before buying a digital camera since I wanted one that could offer both high and low resolution output. I've had this camera over 2 years now and it has never let me down. I have an enormous collection of photo's most of which are above average, and some are just superb. I like the fact that it writes to a floppy disk. I bought another (larger) battery pack so I can work all day without running out of power (recharger comes with camera). When I go on holiday or a business trip I take my laptop and a few dozen floppy disks which are cheap and light to carry. At the end of the day I load the disk files onto the laptop and have a slideshow using Thumbs Plus (this impresses the clients)! You can either save 12-20 medium to very high resolution to one disk, or 40-50 medium in low quality resolution (which though small in size are still good quality). I especially like the setting where you can have a high resolution picture with a very small version for the web both at the same time. Using this I have been able to print the high quality picture larger than A4 and use the small version on websites. I design websites professionally and this camera give me the best of both worlds. Their are lots of settings to help, and a semi-manual option that gives you a lot of control. It can also create a minutes worth of audio-visual (mpg) on a floppy disk - fun for the family and, again, brilliant for websites. I'm not sure if this version Mavica is still available, but go for the newer versions with floppy disk, much easier and cheaper that memory plug-ins. Now there is even one that writes to a small CD-ROM (covet, covet).
