Having a camera savvy dad didnt help, he was always up to date camera wise. Our holiday this year made our mind up, our camera just wasnt cutting it anymore. On reviews this one came up best for us, having the 8.1 megapixels and functions we wanted from a camera and in a decent price range. Sony a (alpha) DSLR-A100KB ... fantastic camera for a first time user. The easy to menu and functions are great and the 10.2 mega pixle sensor pcks up so much detail. Coupled with a few choice lenses from ebay and other places you can kit your self up for a few hundred quid. Using the back catalogue of minolta lenses for a fraction of the cost of new sony lenses makes sence for the cost savy. Quality shots at low ISO (lo80 to 400) and only slightly lacking in the high making the alpha a great starter. I have used this camera on location and in the studio and it performs great.
