I bought this camera from asda for a special offer of £35, as I was off on holiday and wanted something a bit better than a throwaway camera and I really wanted a waterproof camera for taking photos in the pool and the sea! You do have to remember what buttons are what when the waterproof case is on and its a bit chunky when the case is on but its a fun little camera that takes good pictures underwater, and has expandable memory, I got 2 SD cards for it and managed to take hundreds of photos on my holiday, I would highly recommend this camera, on the basis that it is cheap, fun and most importantly waterproof! I would suggest you make sure the rubber seal is secured in place before immersing it in water, and also its an idea to test the case is waterproof before you put the camera in it just in case!
Aside from the waterproof bit, the camera is quite plasticy but doesn't look cheap, its light, a great size camera that fits in your pocket, it has a flash as well as video recording function.
I bought the Vivitar 5399 underwater camera about a year ago from argos where it cost me £49.99 I think.
I bought the camera for a holiday to mexic because of it's underwater features and the price, basically I didn't want to buy an expensive camera I was only going to use once a year if that!
The camera itself is 5 mega pixel with 2.4 inch lcd screen and 4 x digital zoom. It has all the usual applications like flash, timer etc and comes with a computer cd to manage your photos and there is the sd card.
The camera is basic in its looks and is silver but very light (udeal for underwater).
The underwater case is thick clear plastic with bright yellow edging and strap. There are small plastic buttons also yellow, to press the keys on the inside. This is a bit tricky to see when you are using under water so you have to momrize which button is which! I have to admit I was surprised by this little camera - it did not leak and it gave me pretty good underwater pictures of the fish. Not sure how well it would do in dark water (I was in the mexican sea).
Its hande is bright yellow and has an adjustable strap so you can tighten it up and just swim off, without fear of losing the camera.
Also you can use the camera as a standard one too!
