Advantages: 8.1 megapixel, very high resolution, red-eye compensation,
Disadvantages: shutter not reliable, better cameras out there for lesser
When it comes to writing a review about techy things I am really a novice..so please bear with me and I will try to type everything I have felt about my first digital camera out.
Appearance :
Vivitar8400 is a very compact and smart looking vivicam indeed with its silver shiny and huge lcd screen and I fell in love with it at Dubai airports duty-free shop and hubby was extremely pleased to see all the features it included. Hence no doubt a crowd puller in its little leather pouch and black box.
Ease of use:
After reading the short (smaller version of the big handbook).. I was able to snap a few great pictures of the clouds and the smiley Royal Emirates airhostesses on the second flight leg , so would say a any novice photographers dream camera of course if you use the autofocus option .
Features:
And now for the real techy bit aka the jargon which I have deligently typed from the manual in order not to make a single mistake.. don't understand half of it tough except the resolution which has caused havoc in sending them off and saving etc and the massive 8.1 mp zoom which lets me take incredibly gorgeous pictures .

My opinion:
What did make sense though was that it took great still pictures..over 200 economy sized ones and around 150 excellent quality ones so all in all a very good camera to take on vacation .
Also you could downsize the pictures real quickly.
It does have red-eye compensation and 4 flash modes. Night images are quiet good actually even though it has no infra-red night compensation .
Summary: Not sure what went wrong but this camera just did'nt work out for me.
