Kodak Easyshare P725
Advantages: Nice product, colours very clear
Disadvantages: Landscape only
We all have digital cameras nowadays and they are great for going out, or travelling because we can snap away without having to worry about how many pictures are available on the film. One problem I find is that often the photos are taken and loaded onto a hard drive and not viewed that often. Certainly, my parents love flicking through all the physical albums of us as kids, but they seldom see my recent photos. That's why I bought this digital photo frame. When they come round for a meal, I am able to pop this on in the background and we can chat about the pictures.
The photo frame comes with a black border and a screen size of just under 18cm, or 7 inches, measured in the standard diagonal fashion. The display resolution is 800x600 pixels. Not great, but more than sufficient for family holiday snaps! The photo frame has a little stand and the power connection into the back of it. It operates solely in a landscape orientation, so perhaps is less useful if you take a lot of photos of people in a portrait set up.
The frame itself has internal memory of 512 MB which means you can actually store a couple of hundred photographs on the machine. Alternatively you can plug in your SD card, or a memory pen. There are a number of slideshow presets you can set up, controlling the speed, transitions and order of the show.
The display on the photo frame is not great resolution wise, but it does have the Kodak Colour Science software built in. This means you get crisp colours, somehow I particularly noticed it in the colour blue - I was looking at a photo including the sky and it showed up really well! The frame is available for £34.99 and is worth the money. My gripes about the landscape only and perhaps the limited amount of internal memory do not bother me enough to want to replace the device, and it can suit my needs perfectly.
