We decided to buy this Nix Digital photo frame after seeing a friends 7 inch version, we opted for the 12 inch version as the larger display makes more of a statement and we hoped that some of the scenery shots would look better on a larger screen and have more of a wow factor and after comparing the two I think we made the right decision. I also like the fact that this digital photo frame has a motion sensor so will run through a range of photos when it detects movement. This means that it shuts down when no one is around which is a nice little energy saver and it is pretty responsive the minute it detects movement in the room. We paid £89.99 for it which is not bad and about £20 less than some of the prices I have seen it advertised at.
It has a nice high tech design from the front in a matt black colouring with a line of control buttons to the left of the screen and you also get a small remote control as well. I prefer to use this to switch between modes as it stops the frame getting finger marks on it. The one niggle I do have with the design is that the stand is rather cheap looking and it is a little chunky compared with some designs, you have to think carefully about where you place it and I do have it arranged so that the back is not really visible from most viewing points in the room.
It is easy to store data either on the 2gb internal memory using a drag and drop method from your computer or you can add an sd card to it. We have found that the 2gb of memory is plenty enough to store a wide selection of pictures.
The large screen gives a lovely crisp image that is very sharp and looks great, I did have a problem with trying to get one picture to display, it had a black bar along one side and no amount of adjustment and zooming would work so in the end we deleted it however on both portrait shots and ones of scenery the image is nice and clear and the colours are really bought out on the larger screen as well.
It can also handle video as well however we have not tried to use that facility on it yet so I have no idea how well it works.
Overall I have been pleased with the quality and feel that it justifies the price. The only niggles are with the design rather than the performance.
