This machine recognises sufficient forms of media. It also acts as a media reader because you can attach the USB cable to your computer. Each medium (flash card, SD, MMC, etc) acts as a separate hard drive on your computer. You can put the pictures on the internal storage space or you can use a memory card. I would not take the risk to drop the photo frame, even though the device is fairly thick. It seems to be a bit fragile. There is an element in order to confirm the frame to the wall but I believe it would look like a weird pimple on your wall between the other photo frames.
The device displays the photos in its original state (such as directly taken by the camera) very well. Since the device has a resolution of 680x480, this is usually an 'overkill', because this only is a quarter megapixel instead of the 8 megapixel (+) from the average megapixel camera. A photo converted to 640x480 is about 100kb. That means that a 1GB SD card or flash card of around 10 euros can have 10,000 photos on it. So you have enough with only 1 GB of storage. The picture quality is very good and its design looks very modern.
