Advantages: Lots of your favourite photos at your fingertips.....
Disadvantages: No battery and NO USB CABLE SUPPLIED! Grrrrr
With my wife's birthday less than a week away, I needed a quick, easy present that was big on style, looked cool and yet was innovative and original and something completely different from what I would ordinarily buy Mrs.Sparky. Initially stuck for ideas, someone suggested a Digital Photo Frame and I leapt upon the idea swiftly as the other half does love her gadgets and is always taking photos......of the cats, of me looking stupid or of our daughter.
Sony has long been a name you can trust and has a well established history of supplying good quality electrical merchandise. So it was that when looking at which Frame to buy, theirs was the first brand name I looked at. And at a little under £35, this paticular model looked like being a bit of a bargain and a really smart buy!
The Frame is 7 inches, so a reasonable but not overly huge size, with a 800 x 480 resolution for those intrested in exact spefications. It weighs at under 2 kg and has a 256 MB memory which some consider a little small but then this IS one of the more reasonably priced Frames out there and you get what you pay for after all. The range of features that come with it more than make up for it ~ including a clock, camera and several various screen modes that you can choose amongst which include the choice to run your photos as a randomised slideshow.
One of the best things about this is that there is no set-up meaning it is ready for use straight out of the box! One of the worst things ~ it needs to be plugged in to work, there is no battery, and a USB cable does not come provided. Good job then that I have a few spares hanging around from old phones etc.....
I have not used one of these before so cannot compare it to other similar products but uploading photos to the Frame was fairly simple even for a novice like me meaning that I could have a few photos ready on it for when my wife unwrapped it ~ not all of my choices she agreed with, I might add. Overall though, this does everything I wanted from a last-minute gift idea...it is stylish, it is innovative and different and it IS technically pretty cool!
Overall, I like this Digital Photo Frame and don't forget...it comes in any colour you might like, so long as it's black!
Summary: Sony prove they're still a name you can trust!
