TeckNet 1.5" Egg Digital Photo Frame
Advantages: Looks great on my desk and works well
Disadvantages: The display is a bit small
I love photography and enjoy taking photos in my spare time. I also love novelty products and it is no wonder that I end up buying one of the Tecknet egg digital photo frame as I was doing my daily digital window shopping on the internet.
I have to say that one of the things that persuaded me to buy this product is its appearance. I haven't come across a egg-shaped digital photo frame before and it just looks so cute that I had to get one. Besides, the price is quite reasonable. I paid around £8.50 from amazon.co.uk and the price includes postage as well. £8.50 for an electronic product is pretty good. However, I must admit that when I first bought it I know I will like the appearance but I was a bit apprehensive about the performance of this product.
Like the name suggests, the TeckNet 1.5" egg digital photo frame is designed to look like an egg and comes in a variety of colours. I bought the green one because I think it would fit with the beige colour scheme of my desk. The material used is plastic but the quality is good and it has a shiny finish, so in that respect I'm very pleased. The product is quite small, it stands at about 8 cm tall and the width is about 5 cm so it doesn't take up much space, which is perfect for me because my desk tends to be cluttered with papers and textbooks.
The frame LCD display is 1.5" diagonally and has the resolution of 128 x 128 pixels. In terms of resolution, it is pretty low but then again given the size of the display screen, the pictures do appear clearly and doesn't really affect the quality of pictures. This digital photo frame supports pictures in either JPG or BMP format, which isn't a problem for me because most of my pictures are in JPG format.
It is very easy to set up and use. It has a USB connection port at the back of the egg, which can be used to charge and upload photos from my computer. There are instructions when you connect the digital frame to PC for the first time, and it is very easy to set up. Uploading photos is convenient as well as it can be done by 'select & drop'. The memory of this digital frame can hold up to a little over 100 photos of normal resolution.
The controls are located at the back of the egg and not difficult to use at all. There are options to manually select the photos for viewing, automatic slideshows and the display durations can be customised to your liking. Since I regularly charge my digital photo frame, I am quite sure the maximum hour of usage for this product. However, from my experience, it can operates for 6 hours easily on a continuous run.
The only complaint I have is that they don't product these in different sizes for the LCD display screen. Personally, I wouldn't mind paying a little bit more another egg digital frame with a bigger display and higher resolution. Then I can put them side by side as mommy egg and baby egg :).
Overall, I love this product and I think it's fun and a nice decoration to have to my desk to break up all the boring paperwork. I think it would make a great easter present for both kids and adults, who love novelty products, alike.
Thank you for reading. :) x
