Advantages: You will have a fab holiday if you remember it all.

Disadvantages: If you forget them you are done for! Well.. not all of them.

I have decided to write my list of ten indispensable things to take on holiday after just booking mine and my goodness do I feel like I need one right now. This weather in the UK is ridiculously cold and I now can't wait to get away for a week's break in the sun. My suitcase is always fully loaded with lots of things that I believe to be essentials and almost always plastered with the 'heavy' sticker.

1) Passport - Well, I am not going anywhere without it am I? After watching a great deal of episodes on airport, I'm amazed at just how many people actually forget their passport. It's the first thing that goes into my bag when I begin packing and I check that I've got it about ten times before I even leave for the airport.

2) Sunglasses - And I do mean plural. I always take two pairs with me. These are massively important to me when I go on holiday, as any time I don't wear them whilst lazing around in the sun, I get a headache. It takes me forever to find a pair that I like, so when I do, there isn't a hope on this earth that I'm going to leave them at home. I never spend too much on a pair of sunglasses, as throughout the holiday, it is virtually a certainty that I will either lose or break one pair, hence why I take two.

3) Hairdryer - I've added a hairdryer into my list, as each time I haven't taken one and relied on there being one in the room, I have been disappointed. I have to take a hairdryer for the simple reason that my hair has absolutely zero volume and if I were to let it dry naturally, it would be flat to my head!

4) Hand luggage (the fun stuff) - This includes my MP3 player, at least three books, a selection of puzzle books and a variety of magazines. These are all essentials throughout your holiday from the airport to the beach. I fill my MP3 player full of the music that I want to listen to whilst I'm on holiday. The MP3 is always useful for on the plane where you are the unfortunate person seated near the screaming child! At the airport in W H Smiths, I tend to buy more magazine than I really need (Reveal, OK, Closer, New, More, Hello and Glamour). I tend to take a minimum of three books on holiday: a crime thriller, a chic lit and a mystery. Now of course, these three books aren't going to last my whole holiday (which is why I buy another three in Waterstones whilst at the airport) but they are the three that I plan beforehand. The selection of puzzle books that I take include a word search, a criss cross and logic. I take so many because regardless of how many times I tell my boyfriend to get a book himself he doesn't, but when we get to our destination he steals mine! So this ensures I am prepared.

5) Flip-flops - Usually I take two pair of flip-flips: a day pair and an evening pair. The day pair are a must have, particularly for when you are making the trip from the sun lounger to the bar to get the drinks. These are the pair that are cheap and cheerful (usually from Primark or Matalan) and are left at the hotel when I leave. The night pair are my nice flip-flops that are go with almost every evening outfit that I take.

6) Make-up - From foundation to bronzer, mascara to lip gloss, all of my make-up needs to be bought new before I go on holiday. This is for the simple reason that I am hoping to get a tan and my usual make-up will be a different tone! Very important. And I can leave the concealer at home as my skin clears up nicely in the sun.

7) Sun cream and after sun - Sun cream is a complete must because if I don't put that on, I look like I am impersonating a lobster. And after sun is for when even when I do lather myself with sun cream, I still manage to burn somehow. I also love the smell of aloe vera.

8) Camera - This is a must have to take on holiday. I love that fact that cameras are now digital and you can retake a picture rather than coming home, develop a film and have only one or two photographs that are any good. I take my camera with me to take lots of photographs everything on my holiday from the room to the views. I probably bore everyone when I get home with the hundreds of photographs that I take.

9) Clothes - Underwear, bikinis, t-shirts, vests, shorts, skirts, dresses, pyjamas. I know this seems like a pretty obvious choice, but you have to ensure that you take all of the clothes that you need. I always make sure that I have the right amount of clothes for my stay. Before I start to pack my suitcase, I have my clothes for each day in to ensure that I have the right amount of clothes for when I'm there.

10) Plug adaptor - I hear you say why a plug adaptor, that is hardly indispensable. However, a plug adaptor is vital, as if you forget this, the straighteners and hairdryers won't work! It is also necessary for you to re-charge your MP3 player every evening.

Well, there you go. That is my list of indispensable things to take on holiday. I'm not going to leave home without them. Are you?

Summary: Essential to make the most of your holiday.
