Advantages: It's fun anticipating the holiday.
Disadvantages: Repacking when it's time to come home.
Hmmm? Now then, what shall I take?
Well first of all I'll take my case.
It's battered, black and a disgrace.
It's heavy, big and made of plastic
and lifting gives me ruptures-gastric.
But how can I do all my packing
if this essential feature's lacking?
A travelling kettle goes in first
to sort out my nocturnal thirst.
The mug and teabags packed within
so I do not commit the sin
of waking up the hotel Porter.
to get me tea, I shouldn't ought-ter.
And next I'll pack jeans, tops and socks,
more clothes, some shampoo for my locks.
A sturdy bottle helps here too!
so stuff's not covered up with goo
from breakages within my case.
(That doesn't help my smiley face!)
Now luggage handlers are not gentle
in fact a few of them are mental.
They hurl your cases through the air!
So I wrap breakables with care
and put some bottles in my shoes
in plastic bags in case they ooze.
Next, goes in my swimming gear,
snorkel, flippers, mask appear!
Barrier suncream goes in next.
(burning gets me slightly vexed.)
and when I'm all dressed up at night
a bright red nose does not look right!
Then earplugs I have got to take
so revellers won't make me wake!
(Noisy people make me jumpy,
and I can wake up really grumpy!)
these earplugs are a must it seems,
to aid uninterupted dreams.
A phrase book of the local lingo
with numbers too. Will I play bingo?
I'll have to learn the words for "beer"
or "Can I get a bus from here?"
It's always good to chat with staff.
(At least it gives them all a laugh.)
Is my passport in my pocket?
I need a safer place to lock it....
Where's my ticket and my money?
I'm sure I packed them! Now that's funny...
I put the Damned things down just here!
Oh God! I do this every year!
I've got them safe. Oh flipping heck!
I'd better do just one more check.
I'll have to take another look.
Oh yes. They're safely in my book.
I mustn't lose them. Deary me!
I think I'm getting OCD.
I'm getting fed up with this packing
and seeing if there's owt that's lacking.
When everything is said and done
one missing thing can't spoil my fun.
I've made my list, I've had my think.
Now......did I pack the kitchen sink?
Summary: I've packed my faithful case again and now I'm headed for the plane!
