I go away on holiday 2 weeks today - away to sunny Germany. So what is the 10 things I take on holiday? Is their 10 things, as I don't see the point in including Passport/Money?Phone, as you really, really need to take them. Here goes
1. PLASTIC BAGS
Perhaps a bit odd, but I like to seperate the dirty clothes from the clean and that way it keeps it all together and gets tied in the bag, then when you get home you hold your nose as you pile this into the washing machine.
2. MP3 PLAYER
I'd toyed with the idea of getting an ipod, but my 250 song mp3 player does me ok, and i'm not interested in watching video anyway.
3. CREDIT CARD/DEBIT CARD
Just in case. Never had to use it in a "get me home quick, i've missed my flight", but handy to have anyway - just remember to tell your company you are going abroad, as have heard a few horror stories about cards getting declined, as the card companies thought it was fraud and not their customers on holiday.
4. SUDUKO BOOK
Love Suduko and while hibby takes a wordsearch bok, this is my puzzle of choice
5. HAIR BANDS
I have long thick hair and once time on holiday I fogot a hair band, as I always tie my hair up at night. To make do that night until we got into town the next day, I tied my hair back with a pair of knickers - clean of course. They kept my hair back a bit, but my layered bits at the front kept falling out and in my face through the night!
6.IBUPROFEN/PLASTERS/LITTLE FIRST AID KIT
I hate having headaches, so need these to feel safe. Plasters, as one time in Brugges I got a blister on my heel and ended paying about £3 for a little pack of brand named plasters. If i'm going somewhere hot, and with unsafe drinking water then I will take things like Immodium and pepto bismal.
7. TRAINERS
Often got to be comfy on holiday. I will have a pair of dressy shoes, but I don't go for glamour traipsing around the streets.
8. BATTERIES
For mp3 player, travel alarm clock (if taking one), digital camera. Batteries can be so expensive abroad.
9. DIGITAL CAMERA/CAMCORDER
To capture the holiday
10. PHRASEBOOK
I will either take a small phrase book ( came in handy when we got lost in Rome and left the hotel with the hotel address - thanks helpful travel agents) or I will look online and write down some handy phrases I may need.
My essentials for my kind of holiday. Obviously if it was a sunny place I'd be taking suntan lotion, but no worries about that in gloomy Frankfurt
