Advantages: I Am A Man, I Know Best!

Disadvantages: Women Won't Agree!

This is my list for a summer holiday.

1. Passport, travel insurance and other key documents and travel tickets. Plus I always leave a copy of all of these back home with a friend or relative.

2. 1/3rd of my estimated spending money in the local currency. 1/3rd in Amex Travelers' Cheques and 1/3rd to be spent on Credit Card(s). Nationwide is the best for low foreign transaction charges.

3. Sunglasses, Sunscreen and Headgear. I have Hazel eyes and dark hair so have a little more sun protection than say a ginger freckly person but I am still cautious and take no chances.

4. An IPod or an MP3 player and some good newspapers and magazines. I find flying incredibly boring and I hate watching an in flight movie or playing computer games.

5. Adequate supplies of bottled water for the flight plus lip seal. The dryness of the air inside an aircraft dries my lips and mouth area out something shocking.

6. It always helps to take the girlfriend. She gets rather upset if you leave her behind.

7. A phrase book for the country you are visiting or an electronic hand held translator.

8. My mobile phone, first making sure that it "roams" okay in the country I am visiting.

9. Some notes and research regarding places to visit etc that I have looked up on line in advance.

10. The right selection and amount of clothes, shoes, cosmetics and personal care items. I find it is better to take less clothes than you think you will need as it often happens that you wash some while on holiday and buy some new ones too. Travel as light as possible in my opinion....... Yes I'm talking to you, girls!!

Summary: Listen & Learn, lol.

But you're not allowed to take bottles of water on the flight...unless you buy them after you've gone through the gate....
