100 m Run Discussion

Newest Review: ... How low will the record go? Well, Usain Bolt of Jamaica blew the world away with his performances at the Olympics, in particular his performance in the final. The field was made up of many top class sprinters, but he simply left them for dead. He even seemed to slow down before the end of the race as he celebrated his anticipated triumph which probably added a few more hundredths to his time, so he could have gone even quicker. He clocked a new world record with a time of 9.69 seconds, I'm sure he can beat this, but surely were nearing the peak of human achievement in this event, surely nobody can run sub 9.60 seconds! I guess we'll just ha... more

The one hundred metres sprint is seen as the showpiece event in athletics. Out of all the events which take place at an athletics meet, the one hundred metres is the one which commands the most attention and is the most entertaining for spectators. Most people would be able to tell you who won the one hundred metres at this summers Beijing Olympics, but I bet far fewer would know who won the eight hundred metres or the four hundred metre hurdles, right? People (and I'm one of them) seem to have a fascination with athletes running sub ten seconds over the distance, but this is becoming more and more common place nowadays. How low will the record go? Well, Usain Bolt of ...  Read the complete review

The only competition involved in the 100M is Maurice Greene and the World Record. Let's face it, he is the fastest man on earth and very enjoyable to watch as well. Men run the 100M in just under 10 seconds, Women just over. My personal best is a dismal 14.5 seconds, I am ashamed to admit. I was watching highlights of the World Championships and was outraged at the abuse, that shot putter got for running a race he never had in his life. Exuse me for forgetting his name ( mind draws blank so late at night ) but I thought he did well. Yeah he came last and yeah some of my friends could run faster, but he is a Shott-Putter and is well built, not a ...  Read the complete review

The men's 100m looks to be a bit of a one horse race in future years with Maurice Greene bursting onto the scene and being so dominant with a World Record and a comfortable victory at the Olympic games. He didn't look at all troubled by friend, training partner and top rival Atto Boldon, who captured a SIlver Medal in SYdney. From a British perspective, Darren Campbell was better in 200 than 100, Jason Gardener had a disappointing Olympics but he is sure to bounce back but Dwaine Chambers just missed out on bronze when he mad ethe mistake of an early dip. Chambers has proved he has the speed to get medals and contain with the best sprintes an I'm ...  Read the complete review

Once again it's Olympic year and once again Britain has some high-hopes of medals on the track. As ever it'll be GB vs USA as Dwain Chambers, Jason Gardener, Darren Campbell and perhaps Ian Mackie compete with Maurice Greene for 100m gold. Fat chance? Or in with a chance? Well, add Ato Boldon, Bruny Surin, Obedaley Thompson and current Olympic gold medal holder Donovan Bailey into the equasion and you can see it'll be a tough task for our boys. But they have a chance. Darren Campbell is coached by previous Great British captain and leading light, Linford Christie. Campbell is the European gold medalist, but has since slumped in form. However, he and ...  Read the complete review
