5 Reasons Why I Think I'm Strange

Advantages: I'm a bit strange!

Disadvantages: I'm a bit strange!

I read sparkymarky1973's review the other day and was tempted to reveal MY five reasons why I think I'm strange! It's a strange thing to admit, but I actually think that being slightly strange is a healthy and good thing...as is not taking yourself too seriously! So...here goes...in no particular order....

1; I HAVE to eat certain foods in a particular way! Take, for example, a simple snack food like the Jaffa Cake. These need to be eaten by first eating the spongy layer, then the chocolate needs to be carefully trimmed off with the teeth, leading to the final eating of the smashing orangey bit in the middle. Any deviation from this pattern means diminished enjoyment levels and a wasted Jaffa Cake. Jammy Dodgers and Wagon Wheels are subjected to a similar regime! Bags of Mini Cheddars have to be consumed in the order of broken ones first, followed by the whole ones and salted peanuts are eaten whole ones first! Told you I was odd!

2; I don't have children and don't particularly wish to thanks very much! I did at one point think it would be part of my life plan to have a family, but this was not to be. Now I have gone past the feeling inadequate, and stopped crying because the years of trying didn't pay off, I don't want to keep being asked why I haven't produced yet and when it is "my turn" to have a little bundle of joy. Call me strange, but small babies do not make me feel broody and I really don't want to hold one. I interact much better with older children anyway!

3; I have a collection of Doctor Who books! This doesn't sound strange at face value, but it is actually part of a much bigger obsession with the Doctor. I have attended a few Conventions (or Conferences as they are often now called), which some people already greet with that kind of tolerant expression that is reserved for someone slightly weird - a type of sympathetic "there, there" look, with a hint of "do you think she's dangerous?". My collection of Doctor Who books from the original series is complete...you can just about imagine my obsessional trawling of ebay to pick up the last few!

4; I can't remember jokes! I can laugh uproariously at a really funny joke and then instantly forget it when someone asks what I'm laughing at. It doesn't even have to be a particularly long joke. I can fail to remember the simplest of one liners in the space of five minutes (and that is on a good memory day). I know the general gist of the story, I could even tell you who was in the joke, but even if I make a really concerted effort to remember, it has drifted into the ether before you can snap your fingers. For my friends my joke telling is probably funnier than the actual joke because they just know I'm going to get it hideously wrong!

5; I don't like shoes with heels! All my shoes are flat without a hint of a heel. It's not that I can't walk in them, I just don't like them. I LOVE shoes and buy lots of pairs, but all of them are flatties. The sight of people in high heeled shoes actually makes me feel a little uncomfortable and actually a little queasy, if I'm being honest. I don't like to look at them and would much rather be in a nice flat pair of sandals or trainers. In shoe shops I try to avoid the shelves where the heels are and steer myself past them, trying not to catch a sight of them.

....my goodness, I really DO sound strange now I've written it all down. I could actually have gone on and maybe reached ten reasons, which doesn't really reassure me much about the state of my sanity. Most of them are a little odd aren't they? I hope you understand that generally I'm quite well balanced and am quite a nice person really! HONEST!!

Summary: I'm a bit strange!

I agree with number 1, I also eat things like M&MS by colour order starting most first, and if I mess up I get really mad at myself.
